Hello guys! This is Eli, coming back finally with a New Blog! It's October, and it's finally time for my first annual "Spooky Scary Blog Month" Blog! During the Month of October, I'll post Halloween Blogs, and all other Halloween Nonsense, and especially a Blog Posted on October 31st! Since I'm so impatient for Halloween to start, I think I might as well review a little "movie" I'd like to call: "Spookley the Square Pumpkin". This isn't really a movie, but it's more of the lines of a Short, since it's 40-ish minutes. And what I got watching from years in the future, is a cringe-fest. Why so? Well, lets review this thing and find out!
SSBM: Spookley the Square Pumpkin Review!
Before I start reviewing it, I will tell you my experience with it as a child. I was about 5 when I saw this, and this was when I was in Kindergarten; It's ridiculous! Anywho, when I watched it, I sort of remember it with a blurry-like CGI from Foodfight, including odd characters such as a Derpy Scarecrow, a Candy Corn Crown, a Smug Girl Pumpkin, and of course, Spookley. I was obsessed with this thing as a kid, to the point where I actually wanted a Square Pumpkin myself! Heck, I even went to the extreme of actually putting Spookley's face on that Square Pumpkin I found! Even with all the fun memories of this, I kinda grew out of it in favor of Ghosts and stuff, and when I looked at it's box cover, it looked stupid.
SSBM: Spookley the Square Pumpkin Review!
11 Years from now (currently 16 Years Old), I checked out this Childhood Favorite from Dailymotion, since I didn't have Spookley anymore, and watched the entire 42 Minutes of this saying "How bad can it be?". Oh believe me, I thought it was going to be a cringeworthy Guilty Pleasure, but it actually was at the same point as Disney's Chicken Little, but with decent CGI compared to it.

The plot is your average "It's OK to be Different" story, where Spookley gets made fun of, but is proven in the end that he's worthy, and I won't reveal what it is for Spoilers. They compete in a competition for a Candy Corn Crown, while Two bats fight about eating habits.

Now lets get to me pointing out the horribly badness of the short film. There are a few Big-Lipped-Alligator-Moments in this, such as the Weird Trippy Round Pumpkins of the song that made fun of Spookley, and other nonsense you could try to find for yourself. As smooth as the CGI is, some effects are a bit... off. The Tears look more like tree sap, The grass on the bottom looks like a background of grass pasted onto the ground, and the dirt is horribly rendered. The Weird Honeydew Cheerleaders are cringeworthingly designed, but tolerable. The CGI is smooth, but could be better. But hey, at least it's not Foodfight! xD

Anywho, Get ready for the amount of songs being pummeled at you, because they will come a lot during the first half, and even the cringey "Transylvania Twist" that the weird honeydews will sing will be at the end! I'd say the most memorable is the "Spookley the Square Pumpkin" and the "Boo" song. I actually was analyzing the film while watching this, but the "Boo" song actually entranced me and made me shut up and not criticize it. They may be not as memorable as Steven Universe or TDWT, but are decent songs at least...

The Last evil thing I want to point out is the Characters. Good gosh, there are a lot of meanies! You have Big Tom and Little Tom (The Obvious Villains who like to mock Spookley, but Big Tom is quite naïve), Bobo (A smug Competitive Female who just likes winning), Jeff (A Scarecrow who wears a helmet and looks like a human and is generally the nice "adult" of the film), Two Bats (One likes to eat Bugs, while the Other likes Granola and wants the Male Bat to stop eating bugs), 3 Spiders (Basically 3 "Arachnerds" (Well, Arachnids) who have a crush on the Female Bat and like Candy Corn), and the ever popular Spookley (A scared square pumpkin who seems to be a stick-in-the-mud because he's mocked as different). Besides Spookley, Jeff, The 2 Bats, and the 3 Spiders, everyone is literally mean-spirited! No kidding, this is the Halloween Version of Chicken Little! The difference is that there are more nicer characters than what Chicken Little Had. A lot of the Characters are unlikable and are just downright mean to him, even giving Spookley the low end of the stick! I almost wanted to scream "You evil little Clods!" to their faces and smash them with a hammer! Sure he may have earned their trust from saving their lives from *SPOILERS!*, but they still seem like jerks!

There may be a lot of flaws (Especially the Characters), but the CGI is actually not bad, and the plot may be the "It's OK to be Different" cliché, but it does it well that you'll feel sorry for him. It's almost like the Peridot Redemption Arc, but a bit simpler to understand. But nothing beats that fudging Peridot Redemption Arc, Just NOTHING!! If you were expecting Foodfight levels of CGI, you will see that, but it's less weirder than that, and thankfully no stereotypes (Curse you Nose Doctor!! >:T)! It's not a bad take on the book either, but it's the Unlikable Characters that are just no-nos.

Alright, now that I've covered the movie, it's time for that rating again! This is a different rating system from my usual SU Reviews, because it goes into the cringe levels of the movie.

Spookley The Square Pumpkin!

Plot: 3/10 Just your Average "It's OK to be Different" Rudolph story, but it's tolerable.
Characters: 2/10 Pretty Mean Spirited! But the extra point is for the nicer ones of the bunch.
CGI Animation: 8/10 It's So Crisp for a Movie made for a DVD, but there's still a few Horrible Effects here and there...
Songs: 5/10 Some are Memorable, but some are not. It's really based on your Preferences.
Non-Cringeworthiness: 6/10 It might be just my Nostalgia, but I'm quite used to this cheese! It's just those weird Honeydews that might make you cringe...

Overall: 24/50 It's So Bad It's a Nostalgic Guilty Pleasure!

This may be a Horrible Rating, but people still seem to like it. I actually kinda like it too! There's just a minority who think this is a Guilty Pleasure. I'm in that Minority Boat, so don't splash at me! People who haven't seen it will either like it for it's bad cheese, or just despise it for it's "cheap" CGI and kinda horrible characters. I actually think this isn't bad, and I encourage you to see it at least once in your lifetime, as it will bring a "Spookley" vibe to Halloween (Oh no the Puns!) and actually start liking square pumpkins! Happy Halloween and tune in next time for possibly another Halloween-Related Blog *hint hint*! Adios!

First off, the characters are not as bad as you make them out to be. If you were to put them in a completely different setting with a different plot and them as humans, their characters would be amazing and a lot of people would relate to them. You make it seem as though they are bad characters because they're mean. Not all of them are mean. If they were all to be perfect and nice all the time that would be a boring movie and they would have no depth. They're a pretty well-rounded bunch and you're too harsh on them. Bobo is NOT smug. She is a sassy, confident female character who is a great role model.

Second, comparing Spookley to Steven Universe and Food Fight wasn't fair. It's like if you were to compare a highschooler's art to the Mona Lisa and a finger painting. You can't say the highschooler's art is bad just because it isn't as good as the Mona Lisa and you can't say it's good because it's not a finger painting. That's basically what you did with Spookley. Comparing the characters and other things to Chicken Little was not fair. Chicken Little is not like Spookley in most ways. The plots and the messages are completely different and the characters are pretty much nothing alike. If you were to compare Spookley to a movie, you should've at least found a movie that was like Spookley in most aspects.

Third, the CGI was pretty great for 2005. I know that you were saying this at the beginning but at the end you seem to stray from this and say that it's "cheap". It's 2005, come on. The message was kind of wack but it did at least teach some people something. It's an enjoyable movie for people, nostalgia or not.

Some little things I found extremely annoying:
1. You did not do the honeydews justice. They are amazing. Their character designs are unique and fun which makes them lovable characters. The Transylvania twist was an outstanding number. Justice to the honeydews.
2. You did not mention the names of the spiders or the bats. The girl bat is Bella and the boy bat's name is Boris. Bella is a vegan bat which is an odd spin to have on a bat since their bug filled diet is crucial to ecosystems. Boris is a complete and utter MOOD as well which means he is already a great character. The spiders' names are Edgar, Allan, and Poe. They are hilarious triplets that try help Spookley out. Their names already show how PERFECT their characters are.
3. The DISRESPECT towards Bobo. Bobo is a queen. She is a sassy, confident female that is competitive but in a fun way. Her character has a lot of depth, a lot more than many other female characters in movies today. We stan Bobo, not this review.

All in all, this review had weak, untrue points and did a very bad job of explaining what Spookley is. If you want to see a real review, check out Danny Gonzalez's video on this movie. I recommend it. I might be biased because Spookley was my childhood but my friends who hadn't seen it until recently agree with me. Thank you for letting me debunk everything you said four years ago.

Ugh, I remember CN played it once, and I saw it. All I remember was a square pumpkin, and uh...hmmm

Well, the "it's okay to be different thing" really works with bad movies, especially when that's the moral.

"Remember, you're unique! Just like everyone else :D"

Dang! I never knew CN actually played that movie! Maybe I missed it, but I had the DVD, so there's that.

Well, that's true. I think the Incredibles pulled it off better... In only a couple of sentences! xP

But yeah, thankfully society is different and not blinded by social- *Sees that Almost Everyone agrees Donald Trump is going to win* Oh Come on!! You know what, due to the fact that people actually believe Trump will be a good president, I think we need Spookley to teach them to vote whoever floats your needs and not be a Hive-Mind. Don't get me wrong, Clinton and Trump are pretty bad presidents, but if I was forced to choose, I'd say Hillary. I do respect people's opinion that they'll be voting for Trump, but they'd need to have a reason for it. I don't want Magikarps coming at me so...
