Fame
Many people on Planet Minecraft and throughout the Minecraft community aim to become famous Minecrafters like Hypixel, SkyDoesMinecraft, _disco, etc.
Of course, not everyone here is trying to get famous, but it's obviously the aim of some.
Others, though, use Planet Minecraft or the Minecraft Forums to share high quality original work for others to use and enjoy, and where there is high quality original work, there is someone who wants to steal that high quality original work and pass it off as their own in hopes of it making them more popular. This is when many of the people who made the quality work become upset that someone else is taking all their credit.
Stolen Content
Now this is where I get a bit confused at people's reactions to others stealing their work.
In practically every post, you will see things that say to give credit to the person who created the submission, or not to steal their skin, or you'll see, in texture pack submissions, a warning that you cannot redistribute the pack or use any of its textures in another texture pack.
You'd probably think that this behavior is completely understandable, wouldn't you?
You might, but what I don't understand is why, if these people are creating the content for the sole purpose of sharing it with others, how can someone "stealing your work" ever possibly be considered a bad thing?
Let's just go over what exactly happens when someone steals your work:
First of all, that person must think that your work is good if they're going to steal it.
Secondly, your work will be shared with many more people than if it hadn't been stolen.
Thirdly, the person who stole from you will likely not become famous just from stealing your work, you would probably become famous before they would.
I don't promote stealing, I'm just saying that people who aren't trying to become famous or make money should be less worried about it, as it could be beneficial in some ways.
If you're making the content just to share it with others, then you shouldn't have any problem with it being stolen and shared with more people. If you were making the content for profit or fame, then it would be understandable that you don't want your work stolen from you, but when you claim to do it just to share your work, I don't see an issue with it being stolen. But that's just my opinion.
