Stress: Why it Sucks and How You Can Fix it

I haven't posted a blog for a while, because
A) The topic of this blog
B) Writer's block
And C) I feel like I've been stripped of the personality that makes people like my blogs. I just don't make the same kinds of jokes, have the same peppy attitude that (Hopefully) you and (Definitely) I love. It's because of the stress of summer ending. Taking classes, and just overall being stretched tight. I'm in all honors classes, and I do sports (Although I'm no good at the sports). I just don't have as much time to be... well, to be me.



Stress. We all feel it, whether it be over homework or not being able to pay the bills. nobody is free of it. However, stress can cloud the brain and lead to bad decisions. You don't want to get banned from PMC or that server you like, do you? No. So it's important to make sure you act normally, even under pressure. If you were on your favorite server, and the owner was messin' around with you, saying you sucked and that he should ban you, and you flipped out on him. Later, after he DOES ban you for your unnecessary fit, you realize that all that talk was prelude to a promotion to a staff position that you've been wanting, how do you feel now? You just blew your chance.

I've done some pretty stupid things recently, and it's hurt me a bunch. Sometimes, you don't even know if you're stressed. That's what happened to me. You have to regularly think about it to identify it, in these cases. It's no good, and I'm always glad when someone points it out.

Stress can be, well, stressful. It's like a loop. You get stressed. People can feel the tension in the air, and they feel uncomfortable around you. Especially if you snap. And nobody wants to be around you anymore. And then this makes you more stressed. So essentially, after a while, you're stressed because you're stressed. A prime example of a Catch 22. You're doomed to stress for quite a while.

Now, this doesn't necessarily happen, it's not set in stone. If you know how to beat out your stress, you can get over it and move on, lead a happy life again. But only if you know how. And that's where this blog comes in.

Stress relief can come in many different ways. Sometimes, it can just be a simple thing, like punching a pillow, squeezing a stress ball, or even just counting to ten. Usually, this is not the case, but try these tactics anyway before anything else. If those are out of the way, and you're still pulling your hair out, sometimes just taking a break will help you. Just stop what you're doing and join your favorite server, or start "Pwning n00bs" in a video game.

Violent video games could almost be another blog topic, but I'll have it here.
Violent video games can really work both ways with stress management. While it can feel great to just let loose and kick donkey, when you join and start getting killed a bunch yourself, it can add to the stress, so I try to stay away from them.

When you choose to skip that, or it just doesn't work, move on to the next step: Communication. Talking with a friend can work wonders! Just discuss your problems, and if they're a good friend, they'll sympathise with you and recognize what you're going through. If they tell you to buzz off, well, they're either stressed aswell and don't know how to handle it, or no exactly the best friend you could have. Talking with a friend can really help with stress, and I recommend it as a solution.

Go outside. The Earth will absorb your stress in nature, at least temporarily. It really helps.

Try facing the problem directly. This will be the cause of your stress, and if you can annihilate it, that would help greatly. Of course this isn't always easy/possible.

Try animal therapy. It works. Play with a cute puppy, go to the animal shelter and chill out with a snuggly cat, anything of the sort truly and wholly works. This is my favorite form of stress relief.

I really hope I was able to help, because stress can be a real problem, and can lead to bad things. It's a thing best avoided.
