Sometimes, it's good to be bad to the bone. In Suicide Squad's case, it should have stayed that way. Yet it didn't, it was just kinda bad, which I'm really sad to report honestly. I really wanted this movie to wow me, as I don't truly enjoy what DC Comics has to offer most of the time. Oh well, I guess I better explain myself to you guys, since I know everyone is going to flood the comments saying stuff like, "But Jedi! That movie was awesome! You just hate because it's not Marvel!" I know it's hard to believe, but trust me, you and I are gonna get through this together. Well, here we go.

Let's start off with the exposition, I mean, that's an easy thing to explain, right? No is the answer, as the introduction drags on and on, making you wonder when it is going to stop. You would think it was nice of DC Comics to give some insight on the characters to those who aren't caught up on all our DC Comics lore. However, the way they present is like your reading a case file or a really long essay. It just makes the movie seem slow and leaves the audience to wonder what time the movie ends. Then you have to go through the prison again to get the villains into action, which takes around fifteen minutes to do. Also, there are a lot of unneeded flashbacks. Did I mention that? All this movie does is take too many steps backwards when it should be trying to move forward. So let's get into the characters, shall we? They can't be as confusing as the plot could they? Please?

When this movie was first announced, the thing that sold me on this movie was the characters. These weren't going to be your obligatory goody-two-shoes superheroes. No, they were gonna use every dirty trick in the book and cut any corners they could! Yeah, villains fighting villains, so cool! Well, that's what it looked like from the trailer, but it was a different story in the movie. The characters are hard to sympathize with and yet are still hard to hate. It's kind of like that friend who you haven't seen in a while since that big fight you two had. It's just awkward and doesn't seem right. There was one character, the Australian guy, got under my nerves so much I wish they had just pushed the button to detonate the implant. I just wanted him to shut up. Plus, they make Batman look heartless even next to some of these villains. I mean, come on. Is he just crying on the inside, or is he just unfeeling because he's Batman? Also, this movie tries to make you feel bad for the clown king of crime himself, the Joker. It's just not possible, I just can't fathom it. Look, I'm honestly trying to see it, and I don't. You just don't sympathize with the Joker. That's not a thing. Also, the true villains of this movie seem like a minor battle rather than a real war. They were just too flat and uninteresting. Plus they used the cliché of the villain being trapped inside a human body who wishes it to leave. What were the creators thinking? Or better yet, what were they on when they made this?

I have to talk about the style of this movie, or whatever you call it. It looks like the result of rebellious teenage artists defacing a comic book under the influence. Why so many tattoos? Why does it look like I'm having a nightmare? What is this? What is that? Why is the Joker obsessed with pandas? Why is everyone wearing animal suits and wielding machine guns? Why does this make any sense?! The stuff is so unbelievably random that you wonder if your watching an action movie or you're having a weird dream. I guess it's supposed to have symbolic meaning? Either way, the audience is just confused and wishes the action will start up again.

Look, it's not a bad action movie. The special effects are stellar and the fight sequences are in great comic-book style. It's just that, for a story from a comic book, I expected there to be, well, a story. I am truly sad to say this stuff about this movie, as the action element was really compelling and fun to watch. But that's only my opinion, so feel free to leave a comment to tell me your opinion on Suicide Squad or to suggest what my next review should be. So until then, see you next time!

This movie was one of the tops on my list, but the story line was a bit corny.

Lol just did a check on the ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Ghostbusters is still squishing Suicide Squad like a tiny bug on Rotten Tomatoes with a 73%. Ouch, that's gotta sting.

Idk, I liked the movie. Probably the thing that I didn't like is that they fought that crazed witch instead of some SuperHeroes gone bad, the "Guys with AKs" (if you saw the movie you should know the reference) or some others like them :)

You make up some good points, but I personally liked the movie. Did I love it? No.
2 things I'd like to point out, though.
1. The flashbacks felt necessary imo, because that filled the audience in about some of the more obscure characters. (Diablo, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang)
2. As of late, the Joker has been getting a bit more relatable. If it was true that nobody likes him, how could he be one of the most memorable villains of all time?
Great review, though!

I feel better about writing this now that I've watched Sharknado: The Fourth Awakens. I literally screamed into a pillow while watching it.

Have you watched the Fred Trilogy?
(You haven't seen anything bad until you watch 5 minutes of that horrid thing)

Thanks to that I can't make a Chef Fred Trilogy because it'll get confused with that awful 'movie'.

It might not have met everyone's expectations.

But at least it will crush Ghostbusters 2016 at the box office.

Well, as of now, Ghostbusters is crushing it like a tiny bug. But I'm happy that Suicide Squad is at least stamping out Nine Lives.
