At Minecon Mojang confirmed that there will be an update for Minecraft Pocket Edition to add survival mode!
This means it will add mobs, craftable items,dungeons,maybe the nether,the end,food and XP system.

So far it has no specific release date,but it is said that survival will be released for Xperia Play before Andriod and iOS.
