Hola Guys! It's Eli here! You're probably like: "Where's Episode 3 of TSUI!?" Well, that's coming very soon, and I just couldn't think of a good Plot/Challenge for it, so I decided to finally post an actual blog for once to prove I'm not dead! Yay! So, Birthdays... We all have them. They seem the same to all of us, but nothing comes close to your 16th Birthday Party.
You Heard me right! I'm turning 16 this Summer in 2 Days!! You're like "Oh. You're Just a showoff! I'm not even 16 Yet and you're Bragging!". Well, no. I didn't make this blog just to show off. A few nights ago, for my 16th Birthday, I was watching the movie "16 Wishes" on my iPhone. I've watched this movie as a Kid, and it inspired me to do a wish list too! But Unfortunately, that's lost in the Boonies of my room, or it might've been thrown out. Who knows! But while watching it, I've seen some Stereotypical Tropes on what the 16 Year Old thinks on her 16th Birthday. Well I'm here to talk about these annoying tropes and how they are proven wrong in my opinion! Also Disclaimer, This is my Opinion on what 16th Birthday Stereotypes (And Clichés) are, and a bunch of it is Personal Bias, so if you want to argue, go splash somewhere else, your kind ain't welcome here! So without further ado, lets get started!
The Angry Rebel Girl Stereotype:
This Stereotype has been so done to death that it makes me rage when I see it. When I watch a 16th Birthday Movie, something bad happens to this girl, and she flips out over it! What the heck!? If something bad happened to me on my 16th Birthday, I'd probably scrub it off, as I forget most bad things anyways. A Blaring Example of this is when the Girl steps in something dirty, like a Puddle or a Piece of Poop. Just Wash it off! Just explain to your friends that You accidentally Stepped in a pile of crap and you need to go to the bathroom to dry it off! I mean yeah, all you have to do is hide it. Then you have those people who freak out when they fall in Mud or whatever, and they either flip out, cry, or say "This is the Worst 16th Birthday Ever!". Come on! It's just mud! If I accidentally fell in Mud on my 16th Birthday, I'd be like "Oops! Oh Well, Lets have a Mud Party!" and throw it off as some type of joke. Same for the Poop Situation, I'd say "Oh! Crap! *laughs*" and try to make a Pun or Joke off of it. Also the Makeup thing is annoying. These Girls freak out over girly stuff like Makeup and crap, and here's the thing: You don't need makeup to be beautiful! Just be yourself! You don't need blaring lipstick that in reality makes you look like a Female Ronald McDonald. What Beauty Matters is from the Inside, not by appearances!
The "Perfect" Birthday Cliché:
All Right! Your 16th Birthday Comes Around! It's finally time for a big Huge Party! Oh? Turns out you can't because you don't have the money. Here's the thing: You can't just expect your Life or your 16th Birthday to be Picture Perfect. You're not God, you're a Human Being. We all make mistakes, even on your 16th Birthday! Like the Best Day Ever Episode from SpongeBob, you can't expect to have a Perfect Day. Just go with the flow and you're fine! Even when things do go wrong, deal with it!
The High School Setting Cliché:
Now you think this wouldn't bother you, because when you're 16, you're in High School, right? Well, Wrong! What if your Birthday was in the Summertime, like my birthday is? Well, that's an issue. I'm sure you guys have your Birthdays placed in a School Setting, but what about the Minority of Summer Birthdays, huh? Heck, you rarely or never seen any 16th Birthday Movies placed at the beach or at Dairy Queen on a Sunny Day because they make it plaint and obvious that "Oh It's a Teen Movie, so it's gotta be at a school!". Well some Teen Movies aren't even placed in any school setting, but they don't get any love. Why is that the case? Well, Movie Executives just love Drama. They think "Well, Teens get a lot of Drama, so why not make a Movie out of it because I love Money!". You know, with the Rise of Pokémon Go, I think stereotypical teen stuff rarely ever happens anymore. I pretty much see a Future where People will be using Pokémon Go more than any Social Media Site Out there. Oh wait, I digress! But yeah, the "Sweet 16 Movies need to be placed in High School" trend just needs to stop.
The Verdict:
Whether you like it or not, Sweet 16 Movies will be Sweet 16 Movies. I'm just saying, lots of movies do these tropes and it gets done to death every single time they do a Sweet 16 Movie. I am going to be going to the beach for my Birthday, and it's pretty amazing. I cannot believe I've had 16 Years on this planet, and most of you have done the same. I'm probably not going to be blogging for a Week or so because of the Beach, but I'll be back with more blogs, and that TSUI Episode 3 Blog I've been teasing for a while now. I'll probably have a lot more blogs being pumped out after my Beach Vacation, so I'll see you next time!
