Don't you hate it when you bump your server and a player joins only to advertise an ip address?
Don't be that guy.
This article is the first of a possible many, a series titled: "Techdoodle's Thoughts".
It's about my opinions on many different things.
I hope you enjoy it!
Many servers have a rule about advertising another server. I know that mine does as well, it makes sense because you want your players to stay. However, many server owners go a little overboard with this, blocking any sort of chat about another server. Some owners even ban players who slightly mention another server. Heres an example:
Some may look at that example and think, "Yeah, he was advertising...". I don't think that's right, his intent was not to steal other players. If you are so scared that players will run away to any server even mentioned in chat, you need a better server. I don't think that anybody really joins and stays on a server mentioned in chat unless it's a friend connection. What I mean by that is when two players are friends and one of them invites the first to come play with them on another server. Other than that, that one guy who spams ip addresses is just an annoyance, not a threat.
Please diamond if you agree and if you don't agree, please leave a comment explaining why not.
Thank you!

ALoyalPlayer: I saw this really cool plot on another server yesterday. AnotherPlayer: Cool! What server was it on? ALoyalPlayer: I saw it over on a server called DarkEnder. **ALoyalPlayer was banned for: Advertising** |
