Hello all,
My name is Barry Smith and I am here to tell you about our new server being set up, named "Terrafirma". With backing from a rapidly growing community of players, this might just be the last time you go looking for a 'better server'.
What is it?
Ever get tired of those typical servers where the staff are bossy, there are rules everywhere, and you have no freedoms? Do you every wish you could just find a server that is friendly, engaging, and loads of fun? Well Terrafirma might just be the place for you. With NO staff, NO rules, Terrafirma is the place to go if you are looking for freedom and excitement in Minecraft. Don't worry though - its not complete chaos. Terrafirma is based around freedom. Do what you want, when you want. Feel like making a house-building company? Or hiring yourself out as an adventurer? Or maybe even set up a town and rule it as a King? It's all possible here - Terrafirma is all about the players, and YOU get to choose what YOU do. The server is defined, ruled by, and create by its players. Want to be King of your own empire? Work hard enough and you may well get that! It's completely up to you...
How will it work?
Terrafirma will be a town-based server, and for several reasons. Towns give a Minecraft community structure, and pull a town together into a better multiplayer experience. What's the point of multiplayer if you never play with other people? Towns are a good way to prevent griefing and keep the server looking nice and tidy. With custom plugins, the server will be perfectly adapted to make the best of what it can be. Players can't build outside their own town. But don't worry, this isn't a limitation. It allows players to group together, and compete with other towns. When a town gets lots of players, it can expand to be a very large size, meaning that everyone gets enough space to mine for resources and build whatever they want. With super large biomes, a town will only usually have access to a few key resources. To get what they want, towns will have to trade with each other. This makes a complex and amazing economy that lets players have fun! Don't worry though - no complex money systems. All money is item-based, so it's easy to jump straight in!
When will it be up?
The server isn't currently up due to a lack of funding. However, we recently released a donation line where players can donate - and the resources we need for the server are all rolling in. However, we need more funding. Terrafirma is an ambitious project, and will only work with complete support from all our players. We have decided to reward all donators who donate before the server is up with a "mystery surprise" which will be revealed when the server goes live!
What other special features does it have?
Terrafirma will of course be a diverse and amazing server. With a custom generated world, the fun is endless. Mountains as high as the world limit, and vast deserts with interesting landforms and rolling dunes. Giant jungle trees, epic caves and amazing flying islands. It's all here, and you can build on it! Apart from that, we already have a custom plugin made by our plugin developer. He has dedicated lots of time to helping us get it going, and we thank him for that. With special features found nowhere else in the world of Minecraft, fun is just around every corner.
What can I do to help?
As I previously mentioned, we have recently set up a donation line. Any amount of money, however small, will be gratefully received and used to help put the server up. Unlike other servers, we aren't greedy. Your money goes towards improve the server, and giving it more features.
If you don't have the money to update, there are plenty of other things you could do! Terrafirma is all about the community, so we need as many people supporting the project as possible. Sign up to the website, comment on posts, discuss with other players and tell other people about us!
