You may or may not have heard of the various projects out there to terraform the nether in minecraft. Well, we took it to an entirely different level.... or something like that. We used World Painter (By: Captain_Chaos) to make the world, and the Nether, which will be considered another planet in this series. The area I was able to create will be our first goal to terraform. After that, we will make new goals.
The question at hand though, is how does one terraform the Nether? You can't add water without hacks (which means for that we will have to hack), you can't add biomes, and the skybox won't change. Well, most of this comes from external programs. As we terraform an area, it will be changed using Biome Painter (By: 31stCenturyMatt). That solves that, but we don't have a skybox editor, so we will need help on that. If you know how to do that, or can do that for us, that would be great. We need a skybox for the Nether that adds day and night looks, not actual day and night, with a smaller yellow moon, and a smaller sun as well, as it is further away from the sun. We would be greatly appreciative, you will be given credit, and you will be added to the credits of every video, as well as being added in the video descriptions.
Now on to the harder work. How do we get all those resources, and how do we terraform the Nether? That can't be normally done in Minecraft. We will need some internal/external help with that. That help is in the form of mods. We will be using BuildCraft (By: SpaceToad) to get the party started, and the more technical terraforming will be done using Industrial Craft (By: Credits Just click the link). With that, we will be able to start on the long, painful, and probably fatal process of making the Nether a "safe" and "fun" place to be.
That is all for now, watch the included video for more, and we will continue to add more videos, and updates to this blog as this project goes. In the end, I want to be able to use the videos to do some good, and we will see if that can happen, but we need your support. Please let us know what we can do to improve, and if things go well, we may be able to make it a public server some day. The map will be a down load when we are done, and there will be two versions, our world finished, and then a version that you have to work on.
Thanks!
