Last blog of the year and probably the last blog ever I'll make on this site because, as much as I would have loved to see this community revived, it seems that the old problems since I have left run ever deeper than before creating a rift between people. I'll go over that in a sec, but firstly I want to say how wonderful it's been to at least come and poke around. There's hope, just a small amount yet at this rate it might as well just be snuffed out. Shame as I've logged about 30-40 hours this month alone on the game since I was having actual fun for the first time since I played in Alpha.

Anyway, let's get on to what I believe is going to happen to this game. Many a time I've said it's dead, dying, community is inactive, every sort of excuse. However, I think it's just going to stay in this sort of limbo where those who love the game will continue to do so until Microsoft shuts down Java Edition forcing people to upgrade which would further alienate the few people left here. For the rest of the people, it's been divided into cringe-worthy PvP battles on YouTube or a fight for the new players coming in for their pocket change on servers.

People have grown up with the game, shared experiences, and even seen the best and worst of people. Through it all, members stuck hand in hand. Unfortunately, when the community got divided the first time with the changes of the EULA, the first brick of the stable foundation was lost and began a distrust between the players and the Developers. As time went on, people became more and more frustrated, 1.8 into 1.9 being considered the worst updates in the history of the game. To add to this was the fiasco of paying for Modifications which thus divided people once more of those who wanted money for their hard work and those who thought they should be free because the game is free.

All around, the industry grew up while Minecraft and all the players in it decided to grow down to be a stew of anger, distrust, apathy, even going so far as to begin the slow witch hunts and persecutions of long time personalities such as SSundee and SkyDoesMinecraft. While I don't entirely know what happened in the former, as for the latter I remember the huge uproar he caused by deciding to do something else as SethBling did. They wanted to move on, few didn't want them to. Change is a scary thing and to see the game in decline has hurt many a soul and I'm not talking about the hundred or so threads of "game is ruined!" The issues I want to point out and that many can agree on was the terrain generation and the necessity certain features such as polar bears.

I decided to come back and try to repair or at the very least make some bridges for those that will come after me, come to a friendly and engaging community. All I see around has been roughly the same apart from one or two exceptions. The general feeling I get from coming back here has been an exclusive than an inclusive, though I'm going to admit fault to that myself which is not up for discussion. So, yeah, I figured I'd write this out in the hopes that, I don't know, people will actually stand up and say something instead of sitting in the back, behind closed doors, brooding like I have done a dishonor upon their family. In fact, there used to be a time I held my hand out for people, but now I am more willing to throw them off a cliff than to give them a chance to respond.

That is not a mentality I want, that is not a mentality that should be spread, and that is something I had wanted to change when I came back. Even if people despise my guts, I still just want to sweep the dirt I left behind for a new path to be made. Instead, I see that it's been hung, framed, and displayed as a reminder of never trusting anyone.

Bit of a write, my thoughts are all muddled, mostly writing this to see if anyone actually does read this even if just a single paragraph. I would love to see the game in its former glory and I have PopularMMOs to thank to keep me entertained whenever I had an itch. Right now, the future of the game remains uncertain yet I am willing to hedge my bets that it will be lost to time underneath a much broader community that is willing to move forward and not stay in place.

Feel free to leave a comment and tell me I'm wrong, delusional, what have you. Kudos if you can make a full argument.
