So, this is a question everyone should ask themself. What game means the most to you, and why does it take that place in your heart? I realise what a lot of people here will say- Minecraft, of course! But I wanted to make this interesting. People always say Minecraft- that's why we're here. And that's not a bad thing- this is a site for Minecraft enthusiasts. But I wanted to chime in with mine- which is not only an unpopular opinion... But the reason for it is strange too. The game most important to me is...
The legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Like I said- an unpopular opinion. This game is notorious for A) Being the last game in the series and B) being party of a trilogy of games that severely dumbed down the personality of the Spyro so many people knew and loved. And even then, I played A Heroes Tail first! So, what makes Dawn of the Dragon so special to me? Well...
The fact that I never finished the game. It's strange, but bear with me. I thought about the game almost ten months ago, and decided to look up the ending of the game. And it felt... Weird.
The only way I can describe my feeling then is my childhood being laid to rest. Not ending- it's different. It felt good. This game was my childhood- and I finally knew the ending. I'm going to go on a bit of a more serious note from here on out. And it wasn't the ending that hit me hard- it was Cynder's three last words. I'm sure you can work it out, but if you want to, look up the ending. I won't spoil it for anyone.
And the thing that really set me off was the ending song. I was listening to that through the credits, holding myself back- but for the first time in my life, I shed a tear to a game. The song in question is Guide you Home by Rebecca Kneubuhl and Gabriel Mann. Go listen to it, and you'll understand why. To have my childhood end followed by this? It was just all too perfect.
I don't know what else to add, so, I'm going to say something. A vow, of sorts.
I will not let any other game make me cry- that memory is deserved by one game, and one game alone, and for me, that game... That game is this. May this game never be forgotten- and it won't, for if it lingers in the heart of even one person, then it is not forgotten.
That last person will be me.
