The Gentlemano s Guide To Playing Minecraft

Chivalry and honor aren't dead, but they're not thriving either. Conduct yourself like a gentlemen by following these rules, (which also apply to PMC) and you'll gain the respect of everyone around you. Could it help you become a staff member, allow you to make friends on Skype and PMC, and even cause you to feel better about yourself? Probably.

  1. Dono t spam, or repeat your messages at all. Ito s lame and irritating for the server owners. Saying something worthwhile will be enough to get noticed.
  2. Dono t advertise your YouTube channel, or anything else for that matter, on Minecraft servers.
  3. If a member of o staffo makes you feel small, deals with a situation wrongly or acts all o nit-pickyo , call them up on it. Staff members areno t perfect and they certainly dono t know much more than you. Acknowledge where you went wrong and be polite, but dono t be afraid to criticise their methods if you need to.
  4. If youo re going to troll, do it like a pro. In other words, dono t be rude or offensive, but have fun and make sure it works on your o victimso .
  5. Dono t be a sore loser. Accept that you cano t always win, and be gracious in defeat. Ignore the people that areno t.
  6. Never make unreasonable demands. Dono t ask to become a staff member, or beg people to click your links. This advice especially applies when thereo s a famous YouTuber on the server. Although this is rare, dono t add to the commotion by acting crazy around them.
  7. As in every situation in life, showing intelligence and maturity improves everything. Youo re improving other peopleso server experiences by acting like a gentleman. Even using slang, swearing or o ro and o uo instead of o areo and o youo just makes it worse. So dono t do that.
  8. Being a gentleman (or a lady) online is all about coming across as the older character, and using your brain before you type. And advancing technology means that we spend more time chatting online, so this advice applies really applies to lots of situations.

Basically, don't be this guy:

Take from this what you will.

It is also very important to say words like: Dilly Dally, Spiffing, overly saying 'Quite' and 'Oh' and of course tally Whacker. Great article. One that I actually agree with in every way.

The guy he tricked's name was PhilUpOnMyNuts. I would definitely be that guy.
MM YES QUITE
Diamond - awesome article! It really bugs me when people ask such obvious and naive things on my server and ask me to do basic things for them because they can't be bothered (like find an item in our shop), or ask questions about absolutely everything I do on the server. One person can't help but enquire about everything I'm doing on the server, like what I'm building, where I'm building, what it's for, if they can help etc, and if I don't answer within 5-10 seconds they just ask it again, and again. I might just link them to this article in the future. :D

A gentleman censors the names of that which he uses as an example of those he considers ungentlemanly.

I'm not going to go on some idiotic campaign here, but I don't see how it's gentlemanly to make an example out of another person fairly publicly. I understand you may need one but why would you leave their name in? It only takes around a minute to remove by putting a bit of black over it. .-.

It is a little idiotic for the fairly simple reason that no one cares about the name of a random person who played Minecraft at some point in the past. It's not their real-life name, it's not a name that anyone is ever going to see ever again, and it's not a name that will ever be remembered, or searched for, or seen by the actual person with that name, so it really doesn't matter.

Look, like I said I'm not going to argue but it's just common courtesy. Anyone could be one of those random people, and it's kinda defeating the purpose of the blog, no offense. I mean, I get it's not a name people are really going to care about or look into, but it's still blacklisting. In any sense, a username isn't something as simple as you think. All I'm asking is that you do a simple paint coverup of the name. That's it. It's not hurting anyone at all, and only takes 1-2 minutes to do. I understand that it may seem an insult asking you to do so but it's not. Just a request. I'm not going to push you any farther.

I'm not arguing either, I'm just saying there is no need for this. 'Blacklisting' means nothing for the precise reason that you mentioned: "it's not a name people are really to care about or look into." If it was defeating the purpose of the blog, surely at least someone else out of the 500 readers would've thought so too? And if it was covered up, people would think it was me that had acted the scene out.

I'm not pushing you any farther. Would it really matter if you acted it out, anyways? I mean, no offense, but I feel it's just pride holding you back. That being said, I am not going to continue.
Exquisite

one conflict I have though. When you talked about trolling you said dont be rude and all that, BUT that is what trolling is all about. What you said to do would be considered 'joking'

Great blog. Very true. You should add that a gentleman should always be fair, and try to understand and obey server rules etc. I have seen Admins disobey their own rules...

A gentlemen on a server is a character that doesn't give a crap when he's surrounded by small children saying they're (I see this A LOT) "SMARTER THAN U".

A gentlemen acknowledges the fact that intellectual individuals seldom boast to others.
I never realized that I have been being such a gentleman to all the uncivilized masses.
I feel bad for Philiponmynuts, but great blog!

It would be so nice if everyone knew common sense.
