A sequel to The Griefers part 1. I recommend you read that first if you haven't already.
Alex had travelled far and wide to find the object that had been stolen from the Osokkos castle. After following leads and tips all across the known world, she finally came to a village deep in the jungle, where all of the dots were connected. She was staying in the village inn for the night, and while she was surveying the village for signs of the object, she noticed that Robani, the village chieftain, doing something rather suspicious. She was digging a hole in the ground outside her house and clearly trying to do so without attracting attention. Disinclined to ask, Alex decided to wait and see what was going on. It was getting late, so Alex turned in for the night. As she slept, she dreamed that an unknown object in the hole was calling to her. The next day, the hole was filled in, and Alex couldn’t shake the feeling that whatever was buried there was extremely important.

As silently as possible, Alex retrieved her shovel and excavated the hole. What she found was an Iron box, containing exactly what she had come for, a small golden statue with emeralds for eyes. This statue contained the captive life force of an evoker named Eron. Almost too easy, she thought, as she reached into the box to pick up the statue. As soon as she touched it, she heard a voice in her mind. “It is too late for this village. The Griefers are coming.” As she heard the voice, she saw the attackers in her mind’s eye. They were the Griefers, a wild army of warriors from the north. They were skilled warriors and would bring down the whole village if left uncontested. Immediately, Alex knew what to do. The village was soon to be under attack, and Alex was the only person who could warn the villages of the impending danger.

Alex ran to the bell at the center of the village and rang it loudly. After she had the attention of all the nearby villagers, she said to them as best she could in their language: “An armed host of Griefers is riding down from the north. The Jungle may slow them down, but they will doubtlessly be here by nightfall.”

Immediately, The villagers began to gather any pumpkins or iron ingots that could be spared, and craft them into iron golems. The skill of golem-making was very old and had been taught to the jungle villagers by traders visiting from the deserts to the west. Some of the villagers, such as Robani, and Ndraka, her captain of the guard, knew how to use weapons, but golems were the village’s main line of defence.

The Griefers arrived sooner than thought, which could only mean that they didn’t get lost in the jungle after all. Very strange, thought Alex, though she had something of an idea what could have caused their rapid arrival. But she had little time to think it because as soon as the Griefers came into view, they were everywhere, breaking into houses, knocking down market stalls and generally causing pandemonium. As Alex aimed her bow from atop one of the treehouses, she heard the Griefers yelling to each other.

“Have you found it yet?”

“No, you dunce, why would still be looking for it if I had? But one of us will find it soon. A piece of bling like that can hardly hide out here.”

If Alex wasn’t convinced before, she was now. The Griefers had definitely come to steal the statue. Perhaps the statue was communicating telepathically with one of the Griefers and had thus lead them through the jungle and into the village. Alex reached into her pocket to make sure the statue was safe and found that it wasn’t there. Frantically, her mind raced to when she’d last seen the statue. It had been in Robani’s yard when Alex had first dug the statue up. Wasting no time, Alex leapt from roof to roof shooting griefers all the way, until she could see the uncovered patch of dirt that had been excavated. Looking down from the roof of one of the other houses, Alex saw a man below whom she recognised immediately. Temujin’s reputation was almost as legendary as he was, and Alex had seen enough local wanted posters to know the long black hair, icy blue eyes, and thin wispy mustache right away.

Temujin was holding the statue reverently, admiring its craftsmanship. Alex knew this was the most dangerous man in the eastern world, and that a small mistake could prove deadly. But Alex had trained under Steve and had slain the mighty ender Dragon, so she knew a thing or two about combat. Silently, Alex drew her bow, aimed an arrow at Temujin’s exposed neck, and released. As soon as the arrow touched his skin, it evaporated in a burst of green light, along with the statue. Temujin’s entire body was bathed in green light as the totem of undying exchanged Eron’s captive life force for his own. After many years, Eron was free from confinement. Alex however, was exposed to attack.

Before Alex could fire another arrow, Temujin ducked behind a nearby tree with incredible speed. Using the large jungle tree for cover, he ran into the jungle and whistled with his fingers to signal the retreat. By the time Alex and Robani could organise a search party, his trail was cold. The rest of the Griefers were driven off into the jungle, and everyone knew that if Temujin attacked again, they would be warier next time.
Creditracoonmaster, for the idea of one or a group of Griefer-like characters attacking a village.
