Chapter One: The Beginnings of a People
Soon after the great purge of Shalaron, many humans retreated back to the Garden of the Dawn, and from there attempted to move on. A small group of around 400 men and women, tired of the war, desired peace more than anything. The moved east of the Garden, and built boats to cross the oceans. Once they reached farther lands, they realized that living inland and taking the habits of other nations (farming, mining, etc) was just not what they wanted to do with their lives. And so they became accustomed to the oceans, and became a sea-faring people, thriving on trade. Due to the fact they were very spread out, they did not present a large military threat and were not bothered.
However, after several hundred years of expansion and peace, the arise of the Sypherian Empire disrupted the people of the sea. They were driven from their homes and forced East, away from the Sypherian Empire. There, they found a small island with a lone mountain. They settled here, built high walls, a magnificent gate, and started over their way of life. A family by the name of Eraya took power, and built a huge castle at the peak of the mountain. Other families built homes across the landscape, and the town was named Aldenthro. Here, far away from the Sypherians, they were able to resume their trading, peaceful ways, but this time established themselves as not just a group of sea-faring nomads, but as a nation as a whole. Naming themselves the Synestran Province, the people were once again able to spread out and make peace with the nations around them.
After a few hundred of years of peace, with their capital at Aldenthro, the Synestrans were thriving, and Aldenthro had become a city teeming with life. The Synestrans discovered the technology of steam power, and began to harvest it using compression pipes and heat. Aldenthro was no longer just a trading port, but an industrial powerhouse. The citizens became rich, and the population exploded. The people continued to expand, and Synestra became known as the most powerful economic force in all the lands of Mithrintia.
