Yes, this is an old game. No, I don't care.

During the month of April I had a wedding to go to over the weekend; and the car ride there is ridiculously long so I thought I'd bring out the old DS and see what games I could fine. To my surprise I couldn't find any of my games so I hitched a ride with my mother to Target. I checked the Video Games section and looked under the clearance aisle, and that's where I found Spirit Tracks. The price was 5$, so I went ahead and got it.

After we left target we went straight to the wedding. I put the game cartridge into the DS and booted it up. The first thing I noticed was the absolutely beautiful intro, and the exceptional work put into the music. After starting up a new game, I listened to Niko's story of how New Hyrule was found and all that jazz. I had Hyrule Historia so I already knew every timeline backwards and fowards. After all those events had taken place I underwent my journey as the brand new hero of time in a brand new Hyrule.

Art/Environment: I don't even know where to begin. This game is BEAUTIFUL. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I adore cell-shading which is probably why I also enjoyed Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker. Amazing scenery hands down, especially under the ocean. Just wow. Excellent work Nintendo.. 10/10
Gameplay: Nintendo really hit the spot with the usage of the double screen similar to its predecessor, Phantom Hourglass. Swordplay is some of the best its ever been, Sprinting is simplified along with item usage. The only mechanic that was kind of iffy was the somersault, because you have to double tap the screen while running which can lead to complications. (ITEMS) Items in this game are just so great, not to mention the Spirit Flute. The Spirit Flute (I know this'll anger some people but oh well) in my opinion feels like a real instrument as opposed to an Ocarina. Now keep in mind I've played OoT, it was in my fact my first video game, just to clear up any worries of bias) 9/10
Dungeons: Amazing dungeons with unique puzzles in them, really forcing the player to become a critical thinker and immerse within their environment. Each dungeon requires usage of the new item found within it so every different dungeon is a new experience. It is however a little to easy to lose track of what to do, but that might just be me. I had to look up a guide quite a few times. I'm sure it's different for everybody. 8/10
The Plot: Perfect. Nothing much to say. TRAINS. YES, TRAINS. YES, ZELDA ACTUALLY SERVES A PURPOSE IN THE GAME. PHANTOMS ARE AWESOME. The ONLY issue I had was that the plot twist was a bit anti-climatic and predictable. Other than that, hands down the best plot from a LoZ game. 9.5/10
Overall: BUY THIS GAME NOW IF YOU DO NOT OWN IT. With amazing music, fantastic plot, TRAINS, awesome characters, and just about everything else makes this game just absolutely wonderful. Would recommend.
