The sounds of pistons shifting vibrate through the air. I feel shivers going up my spine. The sand....it falls. It seems like a never-ending stream of petrifying suspension as the walls come closer and closer to being done falling. The sand stops....I see the rest of the...of the island. I realize that there is nowhere to run, no way to get off of this floating island. I don't see anyone, I come to the conclusion that I am alone with those other men, and the one who talked about fighting was lying. I wander around to find that there are four different areas...all the same. Every block, every leaf...the same. I try to find the men from before, but they are gone. In a state of panic I run around looking for someone...anyone. Then he appears. A man, his astonishing diamond armor glistening in the sunlight. His diamond sword...his bow. All of it, amazing. I have never seen anyone that powerful. I begin to approach, thinking he is my guardian angel, my savior. For a second I see this look in his eye...a look af hatred. He doesn't stop running towards me, sword in hand. Then I realize, the fight is real....and it has begun.
I instinctively retreat, being much weaker than this man. I hide in the cave the first man I saw went in a while ago. I block off the entrance and hide in there. The time that passed seemed like hours. Hours of silence, or maybe I am too focused on being afraid that I just can't hear. I look outside. It's quiet. No sign of the man. I walk out, with a great feeling of relief. I look around, try to see where he went. For a minute, it was a silent, motionless world. Then....he jumped out from behind the cave.
Terror overwhelms me. I attempt to move my legs to no avail. I'm frozen by fear. He begins to approach. I try to talk....I can't move my lips. I want to explain how I don't want to fight, but no matter how hard I try, I can't talk. He comes closer.....closer.....closer.... One of the men from earlier suddenly appears in the corner of my eye. The attention of the man in the diamonds suddenly shifts to this other man. I see swords. I hear screams. I see pain and agony. I empathize with the man in the diamonds as the other man hits him with his own diamond sword. The man with the diamond armor falls.....he doesn't get back up....he doesn't move. He's dead. I don't know what to do. The other man tosses me the slain man's diamond sword and some of the armor....I put it on. I know I look more powerful.....I feel weaker. The weight of the armor weighing me down.....the aching in my legs begging me to stop moving. I can't stop. If I stop, the man won't wait for me....I'll be alone. I keep moving with this man. I hear rustling in the trees. I look up.....I see a loaded bow pointed directly at me.....I close my eyes.

Chapter 2 - The Man on the Other Side
