Why is 42 related to the meaning of life? Because of Douglas Adams' joke in his book "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", google it.
In this blog I will write about the meaning of life, but seriously - not about 42. Before you tell me "This blog has nothing to do with Minecraft", read the blog and you will understand why this topic is related to Minecraft.

Let's start from what other people say about it:
The meaning of life is to serve god. Do you really think god has created us just because he need someone to do some work for him? How a human can help god? God is almighty and can easily get by himself anything he needs if he even needs something physical.

This leads us to the next opinion: The meaning of life is to be *good*. If good for you is to do what god told you to do - this is following rules that made to stop people from doing bad things. If you make something good to other people it makes you happy too, and when you die you leave this life when you know you made people happy and helped a lot to some people or maybe even the whole humanity. But then being good is not the meaning of live but just one of many ways to make yourself and others happy. But is this our purpose in life? to be happy? to make other people happy? I don't think so, Because if you would use technology to make yourself happy all the time (There is a spot in the brain that makes you feel happy when it is active - and you can activate it using electricity) you wouldn't feel satisfied with your life.

So, our purpose in life is not to serve god, not to be good and even not to be happy! To simplify this question we should look at the life from outside. the best way to do this is to look at Minecraft - there is a world with nature, materials, physics, you can explore, research, invent new technology, build, play with other players or fight them... The only thing that seems to be missing there is death - you always respawn, and if you play in hardcore you always can start new game. In life if you die it is game over, no respawning and no creating new world.

When you start a game in Minecraft your first time (when you born) you start learning about the world, the rules, what can you do and what you can't do... You ask lots of questions (just like a curious kid) and find out many things about the world. Some people ask what is the objective of the game (something you don't do in life when it is just started) and you find out that there is no objective. When you know you can break and place blocks you start using this ability. You first break and place blocks because you can - then you think what to do with your great power. You start gathering resources, building houses, crafting... You decide what you love to do and you keep doing it and getting better at it - for example, I loved redstone a lot and I learned to do great things with it. (In real life you start playing with toys and with friends. Then your parents see what you love and give you more of this. When you grow up you study about what you love, and you wish to have a job where you do what you love to do.) So, Minecraft is so close to the real life - and there is no objective. You have a great power that no other creature has even half of it: smartness, curiosity and knowledge. You think what you can do and always try to understand things. Then you create for yourself objectives. Live has no objectives defined by anyone - you live because you can and you have reason to stay alive because you create this reason for yourself.

Let's take a look at the people who lived a whole life and have much more experience than us. Some old people who are going to die, say something like "It's ok, I did everything I ever wanted." or "I am tired of life, it is time to rest". Basically, they say they have completed all the objectives they created for themselves in life. They completed all the objectives and they won the game of life and the game is not so interesting anymore so they want to stop playing it. And this is how you die in Minecraft - you die in Minecraft when you don't want to play anymore.

Personally I don't believe in god, but don't mind this - it is not important for the discussion so please don't discuss the existence of god here.
This is for those who believe god created this world and us all:
God is perfect and almighty, he doesn't need you to do anything for him. God created us so we will enjoy what he created for us, he gave us the power to explore and learn his world. God didn't create us to fulfill a task for him but to see what we will do in his world and how far can we get.
So it doesn't matter if god exists or not - we have no objective in life. Life is the best sandbox game ever made.

Please share your opinion about the meaning of life. Especially if your opinion is not like my opinion, because I want to see more different opinions so the discussion will not be about only one opinion but about comparing different opinions.

This is human's best skill, and we love doing what we're good at. We give meaning to our life and many of us choose to spend their life studying our world, progressing in science and making our life better using technology.

The meaning of life is to accept Jesus Christ into your heart.

So you did, does it mean you did everything you needed to do in life? If this was the meaning of life, after accepting Jesus Christ into your heart your life would become pointless?
Don't you think there are more important things in life than believing in something spiritual that no one can prove? How did people discover god and prove everyone he exists? I'll tell you how: They invented a story and used to their advantage the things that humans were unable to explain at that time and called it a miracle and said god did it. Religion is a great way to make people follow some rules - if they believe they will burn in hell for doing something they will never do it, even if no one can see them doing it.

I think the meaning of life is to make a change in the world. And to make someone who can't be, happy.

For me things like this are kind of objectives you created for yourself, it is something you decided to always do - not all objectives are something you can complete just by doing something once.
About making a change in the world - I am actually planning to make such thing in my country, but again, I don't think it has something to do with the reason for me to live. If I don't like something in this world and I have a chance to change it, why not? (almost 17 years old kid wants to make a big change in his country.. sounds impossible, right?)

Again, this is my opinion - I am not saying you're wrong or something.

I honestly don't think there is such thing as a "meaning of life". It is what it is, and we're here no matter what. Just go with it and enjoy it.
