Hello there fellow subscribers and non-subscribers! Thought I'd make a blog to spice things up here again, and this time I will write about something very cool that I am looking forward to see in the near future, and that I will just briefly talk about. The Oculus Rift.

So what is this, what are you talking about?

Some of you might have heard of it, some of you might not have. The Oculus Rift or Oculus VR is a device currently in heavy development. It is a screen which you'll wear almost like glasses, but which will give you much improved field of view as well as full 3D effects. It will also make it able to turn your head in-game when you do it in reality.

Why is this so cool?

Well, imagine the most amazing visual experiences you can have with a regular screen and multiply that by ten. Not because of graphics, but because of what more it can give. As mentioned earlier you will be able to experience 3D and a higher field of view. This is something that is difficult (and very pricey!) to do with regular screens. The only problem they have for now would be that the resolution is a bit low so that the pixels might be visible, lets hope they fix that though!

Currently this device is in development but has already shipped out a few developer kits, which is basically a very early version of the product that game developers can use to make sure their game is compatible with it when it has its official release.

So what games will you play with this?

Seeing as it is more or less a screen screen you should be able to play pretty much any game with it. But for the full effect with turning your head it is recommended to play first-person games, such as Minecraft! And will Minecraft be able to use with this? The answer is probably yes. Notch (or Mojang) has already gotten his hands on one of the developer kits and will be using it for his upcoming game 0x10c, but it is highly likely they will make it work with Minecraft too, and that, ladies and gentlement, would be pretty fantastic to try. Though I am personally mostly looking forward to play scary games such as Doom 3 (and soon Doom 4). I have always loved horror games, and I feel this will greatly enhance the feeling. But there should be games for everyone to play with these. :)

Here's a handy list of games looking to be compatible with it so far: http://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-rift-games-list

Least but not last, when can we get one of these, and how much will they cost?

Sadly a specific release date has not been set, but it is expected that the customer version will be released in 2014 (can't wait!). And seeing as the developer kit costs $300 you would expect the final price to be a bit lower than that, hopefully. So it wont be unreasonable, and I will definitely consider buying one myself.

Well, hope that was informative. Not sure if blogs like these are enjoyed or not, but I thought I'd spread the word a little. :)

Thanks for reading!

Also, not sure why some of the 'headlines' wont go bold. Sorry for the crappy layout. :/
