This mod more or less represents what this mod should be like. Except that the blocks shouldn't be pushable.

First off, I'd like to say Merry Christmas to'ya'll!
(Now you must open this spoiler)

Hopefully, you OPENED THE SPOILER like I asked you to. If not, you missed out on a ton.

But really. I have to start of telling about this mod itself sooner or later.

This mod is simple. As long as you don't get a chance to meet the coder of it. Attempting that has a 78% chance of being hazardous to your health.

This mod does't add anything that's virtually physical into your game. But it does change the whole definition of "block" (at least the definition of it for Minecraft purposes).

Lets look at it this way: Minecraft blocks can be placed and destroyed, but only as aligned to a grid. You'd end up with a big sheet of graph paper, and whatever you write on it gets snapped to a grid.

Kinda boring, right? I mean, everything is so neat and organized. It's just sad. :(

But imagine if you can just totally ignore the grid. The you can have much more freedom. You can place blocks down where ever you want. They don't have to round off to the nearest whole number. They can be a decimal. .000000000001, if you want.
Once you install the mod, you can have a total crash test course!

BxqYppng

Imagine blowing away with some TNT while this mod is installed! A total mess! And also, Minecraft might require physics to do that. But totally disorganized. Much better. :)

Here are some limitations/problems with the mod:
  • There will be many problems coding the mod. It may require re-writing most of the Minecraft code, making it inconvenient. That would also make it interfere with other mods.
  • It will be very demanding. It can take up a lot of RAM and use the CPU to its fullest
  • Confusion between blocks and entities
  • Not being able to play in the world until the mod updates
  • If you play in a world with using this mod, then load the world without it installed, you'll find that many blocks would be missing
This isn't going to be easy, but if an intelligent passionate modder tries to do this, he'll find that "no part is impossible."

I really like this idea! I could build some things out of redstone way more compact if I squished them together as far as I could without connecting the two blocks!

That brings the problem with redstone. If this mod was implemented, wiring redstone will be a total madhouse. Unless the mod coder decides to treat redstone and all it's related siblings as entities and not blocks. But that will defiantly cause severe lag on even AntVenom-Grade computers. And other problems.

Well I know that I have made things bigger than AntVenom-Grade stuff on a daily basis. So I think I would kill the world then! :D They could do it I know they could though

*When I say "AntVenom-Grade Computer", I'm referring to a mini-super computer. AntVenom practically has one, with a CPU of 4 GHZ and <faints>

Minecraft is Minecraft because everything is how it is, everything is a cube/square, everything is pixels, and of course EVERYTHING is aligned to the grid. Changing this would be like going into the past and and killing your own parents, the result would be just...complex and horrible. Even though the idea is near enough impossible, this game is already getting enough criticism due to the fact it's adding "too many new features." If Mojang went along and did this, everything would just fall to pieces. I'm sorry but you can't DO this.

Mojang can't do this. That doesn't mean some other indie modder can't. Mojang's 'too many new features' are referring to things like carrot sticks, beacons, player heads, the wither, and stuff like that. This just adds a new aspect to the game, or, rather, modifies an aspect already in the game.
And about that paradox, it can't happen. Whoever thought up that paradox is.......
Anyway, I came up with a more complex paradox. It's going to take up much more space than this comment box will probably allow. PM me if you want me to attempt to explain it.

You forgot one more problem to include in these fatal flaws: How could you possibly be able to build anything that looks decent?

Maybe you can hold CTRL to be able to place blocks that automatically aligns itself to a grid.

The mod wouldn't server much of a purpose then.

Depends on the way you see things. It would basically give you a choice. Either yes or no.

The mod isn't to mess your building ability and such up, it is allowing you to place blocks outside of the normal grid. Maybe you want to put it in the grid at a point; this would allow you to do it.

What i'm trying to say is, what is the point of that?

I agree with you, what is the point? For all the trouble it creates is it even worth it?
