I'm sure you've all seen at least one "What's your FPS?" thread on Planet Minecraft. People eagerly join in, boasting about their hundreds of FPS or complaining about their meager 10-20. The only problem is, all of these threads are structured exactly the same. The OP has the question, a poll, and sometimes the posters FPS. People join in, voting on the poll and posting their FPS. Then, someone comes along and points out that:

  1. The human eye can only see up to 30 FPS.
  2. Most monitors only have a 60 Hz refresh rate.

Then, the thread slowly declines, once people realize "oh, it doesn't matter anyway" and the thread is lost in the great void of PMC.
Please, if you want to brag about your great computer or moan about your terrible one, don't post another FPS thread. There are WAY to many of them. Instead, find an existing one or just keep your computer specs to yourself.

Thanks for reading! If you liked this blog, please diamond and subscribe!

You are all wrong. The human eye does not perceive the world in fps.

If it was perceived through fps, it would be several thousands, it is just that your brain cannot recognize things that are too fast.

The thing is, even if your minecraft has 1000 fps. Yet your monitor only has 60HZ, THEN, ALL YOU CAN SEE IS JUST 60FPS.

even 60fps is clearly not even smooth.

the thing about the 30fps deal is that it is a MISCONCEPTION and MISINTERPRETATION. the truth is the brain RECOGNIZES MOTION at 30 fps.
the human eye can see 90 fps normally and 120 on adrenaline

Do you have any evidence to back that up?

Thanks for that! I didn't know. However, this isn't really common knowledge, so I'm not going to alter the post. Most people do point out that the eye can only see at 30 FPS. Thanks for teaching me something though! :D
Actually, the human eye can see at 60 FPS.

we were all wrong i had thought it was common knowledge the 90 and 120. I saw it on discovery channel a while ago. It must just be an average.
