The Screams at Night
(A compilation of short stories at night)
1. Taking out the Trash
It was a late night, a Thursday to be exact. I was at a friend’s birthday party for a while and I got back late. “Hey Joshua!” My mother called, “Do the trash!” It was later at night when I was told to do the trash. I gathered all of the trash into the can and dumped it in the box. I opened the garage door cautiously. I pulled the box to the curb when I noticed an odd looking van. It had spray paint on it and the tires were all different. I slowly carried the box to the curb when a dropped the box. Some people came out of the van and rushed at me they entangled me in a net and put me in the trash can. I screamed but they muffled my mouth. I was stuck in the box because they sealed the lid. The next day the, the truck came to pick me up. They unloaded the box and I fell out. I tried to squirm but I couldn’t move. Then the truck’s compressor came down and squeezed my body and was crushed to death.
2. The Shower
Today was going to be a good day, the sun was out and the sky was clear. I went to the gym after lunch and stayed there for a while with my friends. When I got home, I needed to take a shower. When I went into the bathroom, I looked into the mirror and I saw something… my reflection. I turned around and was ready to open the shower curtain when I saw a shadow in the shower. I quickly opened the curtain and nothing was there. I looked around and then I felt something on my shoulder, it was my towel. I had enough of gags and jokes so I went to turn on the water and instead of water; I found hair. The hair poured from the faucet like a burst dam. I rushed to the door but it was locked. A young girl in a white dress looked at me and dragged me to the faucet she drowned me and went away. The tub cleared and looked like if nothing happened to my death.
3. The Last Light
I was just on the computer and recording myself late at night. I finished playing a game of Minecraft. I rushed upstairs and brushed my teeth. After that, I got into bed, I realized something was wrong, there was one light still on downstairs and I wanted to turn it off. Rushing quickly downstairs, I crept down to where the light was. When I turned it off, other lights started flickering on and off. I turned the light back on and the other lights went off. I realized I needed to unplug the cord to the light. Then the wind started blowing through the windows and shattering the glass. The wind was getting louder. A murderer of birds started flocking in as the trees snapped from their places. I rushed up stairs but was stopped by an animal. All the lights turned on again and one by one they went out. (click) (click) (click) (click). The lights were getting off until there was one light left. It flickered as I saw a thunder of lightening. Then the light shut off. I was alone in the darkness with animals. I heard a snarl and then they leaped at me, tearing my clothes and mangling my body until there was a pile of bones with fleshy morsels on them.
4. The Window
I was done with all of my chores at the time and I went into my room. It was 9:00 so the night was dark. I decided to look out the window to see the stars; they were beautiful, each one having their own color and shape. I took my eyes of the telescope and crept to bed. I heard there was a storm going to be tonight so I closed the blinds. I got a peak outside when a flash of lightning went right in front of me. I saw the outline of a figure as the lightning flashed. I closed the blinds but they opened again. The figure came into my room and she came toward my eyes. I could not see as I felt life draining from me until it was all gone.
5. Open Door
I took a deep breath. It had been 20hr since I slept because I was up all night at a friend's house last night. I closed the door, but as I closed it, it came back open. I could see the outside of my room which was just my parent’s room so there was nothing to be scared of. I tucked myself in and closed my eyes. At 10:00, I heard a thudding of footsteps coming from outside my room. I jolted awake and I saw someone standing outside my doorway. He tilted his head at an odd angle and suddenly was right beside me. He had no face and had black eyes. I screamed then there was silence.
