Elijah walked up to the mirror. He shouldn't be here and he didn’t have a lot of time, But he had to know what had happened to her. He entered the room at the top of the tower, to find it occupied by a single object. The magic mirror. His reflection didn’t show, there was just darkness.
"Mirror, mirror, on the wall," He paused, "Show me who I love most of all." The front of the mirror swirled. Was she even here? A dark shape in the background of the mirror grew and grew until standing before him on the other side was a petite demoness.
“What are you doing here?” she asked. “You shouldn’t be here, Elijah,”
“I needed to know if you were okay. And I need to get you out of here,”
“But you can’t,” she said. “You’re not powerful enough,”
“Not powerful enough? Era, what do you mean? You said that-”
“Shh,” the demoness hissed. “He’s here,” Elijah went and looked out the only window in the room. Sure enough, a whole squadron of Lightguards was heading into the building. This would be harder than he had originally thought. Soon they would both be trapped inside. Elijah knew many spells, but none could help them now.
“Era-”
“You have to go,”
“But I can’t just leave you!” The demoness tilted her head and smiled.
“You won’t leave me. I can get out by myself,”

The Lightguards burst into the room, to find their quarry gone. All that there was was a mirror, of which inside a demon stared innocently at them.
“Well?” Their commander strode into the room.
“There’s nothing sir. It must have been a false alarm,”
“No it wasn’t,” The commander went up to the mirror. “Where did the betrayer go?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about mister,” she said. The commander studied the girl.
“Sir, Laetus wants to speak to you. Something about a mirror,” The commander grinned evilly.

Elijah clung to the nearby cliff. He watched the tower, waiting for Era to come out. They were wasting time. They needed to finish their quest, to find the Staff of Darkness. Instead of his beautiful demoness, dark particles slid out the tower.
The sound of glass breaking rang throughout the ravine.
Then there was silence.
The Staff of Darkness was just his quest now.
