The Minecraft timeline is something I have made references to many, many times across all of my many Lore Theories. But what exactly is it? I don’t try, I must confess, to make my blogs be in timeline order. I make my blogs according to what I fancy at the given time, and then worry about the timeline and order of events after. Without further ado, here is an official timeline

(also, sidenote, I intend to make timelines every 30 blogs or so, just to keep things in check and keep things manageable):

The very first thing that happens on the timeline is the creation of the Overworld, Nether and The End. This is done by The Hosts, who are godlike beings introduced in Minecraft Legends. Note that Minecraft Legends is not considered canon and there can be made an argument that The Hosts don’t exist and are instead just folklore (like arguments for God in the real world).

The next thing is–assuming The Hosts exist–is the creation of The Firsts. These are golems that help create the world. They are four entities: The First of Diorite, Oak, Stone and The First of Brick. These guys never really show up again, with the exception of possibly helping a Hero ward of Piglins in the events of Minecraft Legends

Next we find the existence of Villagers. Villagers are–as said in previous blogs–the oldest of all creatures (at least, intelligent creatures). Villagers exist peacefully, but some decide to not stay in villages, instead seeking adventure. The reason they do this is unknown, beside hubris.

These wandering Villagers become Merchants and Heroes. And these Heroes hope to summon The Hosts again… By building huge prismarine monuments. Note that the Well of Fate in Minecraft Legends resembles an ocean monument.

Then the Heroes visit the Nether, and test the Nether’s power–while doing this, they mutate into Piglins, mainly due to the evident radiation present in the Nether. I explain this more thoroughly here.

After this there is a time of peace. The Trail Ruins are made, resembling the Ancient Cities which will eventually be built, and many sherds come from this time, including Howl, Plenty, Heart and more.

Then the waters begin to rise, and while this isn’t a big problem yet, it does eventually drown the Ocean Monuments and the Cultists who live inside of them…

After this the Piglins invade the Overworld for the first time. This is alluded to in the novel Return of the Piglins, and is elaborated on here. This war is smaller than the big one in Legends, but is still notable enough for sherds of pottery to be made about it and for cave paintings to be made. I definitely would suggest reading the novel for more information, as it gives an in-depth talk on the whole subject. The book is also the only time that we hear about this war, being referenced both in the book and the title; Return of the Piglins.

Next the Sniffer comes into play. This is an ancient version of the mob that is enormous and later forms the fossils that players can find. There is not much to cover here, but if you want more information, find it here.

Later the Heroes and Builders would begin to fight. This was mentioned in my first Lore Theory, where I stated that the Heroes and Builders started a war against each other and nearly killed one-another off. This war continues on for ages, literally spanning half of the timeline. This is the start, and it continues on until nearly the very end of this blog. During the war, however, the Piglins invade a second time, this time with the help of the Seer and a certain Orb of Dominance that will be relevant later on… This is where the events of Minecraft Legend’s novel Return of the Piglins takes place, and about 3 weeks later the events of Minecraft Legends proper.

After the fall of the Great Hog, the Seer goes into hiding, eventually losing the Orb of Dominance which manifests itself into the Overworld within the Hollow Mountain for Archie to find thousands of years later.

During this war the Illagers and Witches are both born, mainly as offspring of Villagers. The Villagers kick out the Illagers and Witches both for lacking the pacifistic ideals of a Villager, eventually having the Illagers become a great race that harms the Villagers. Yeah the Villagers shot themselves in their own foot with that.

Anyway, the next thing that happened was the invention of the Creeper. With the Piglins out of the way, the war between the Heroes and the Builders continued, with the former creating a sentient robot with TNT inside as a spy. The Creeper was meant to record music discs as intel against the enemy (Builders). The Heroes also had set up temples in the deserts by now, and the jungles had been made to be home by the Builders.

By now the waters have risen enough to drown all the ocean monuments, killing every one of what I have named Cultists. More information can be found in this blog.

After this there was another long period, this time not of peace, but of war. This was a long period of the Heroes and Builders fighting each other. The only notable thing that happened was the construction of woodland mansions and Pillager outposts by the Illagers. This was the start of their story.

Then the Heroes and Builders both travel to the Nether. They do this to evade the zombies (by now the zombies are a force to be reckoned with). Unfortunately they don’t progress their war much, instead only creating zombified Piglins and wither skeletons. On a brighter note this is where the Nether Fortresses are made and more bastions are created.

The Builders and Heroes then create the Stronghold and Ancient Cities, hoping to evade the coming zombies, but fail, almost falling completely victim to the hordes.

Then a lone Illager is outcast from his home in the Creeper Woods. Archie finds a certain Orb of Dominance that I promised would be relevant later, and becomes a cuboid Hitler… He enslaves Villagers and puts them to work mining redstone to further his régime! But alas! There are four Heroes who wish to stop him from ruling, and they succeed after only about a week of trying. Yeahhhh. These are the events of Minecraft Dungeons and its loveable novel; The Rise of the Arch-Illager (for a children's book, it is actually really, really good. I would definitely suggest you read it)!

The 6 DLCs then take place, with the protagonist destroying the Heart of Ender once and for all! In case you don’t know what happens, it is pretty simple: The Orb of Dominance is destroyed atop the Obsidian Pinnacle, and the Orb’s shards are spread to the corners of the Overworld. The Hero must then seek to destroy them, where they are then transported to The End. The Hero then goes to The End, facing the completed Heart of Ender.

After that there is silence in the Overworld. We watch as the last Heroes die. This is over the course of thousands of years, as the Sniffers grow smaller, the Evillagers grow bigger, and The End suffers at the hands of Endermites.

Later we see the Player spawn. You. You are now the Hero. Ready to explore the lore for yourself. Keep on exploring. Keep on LOOOOORING, and I’ll s’ya nexttime!

I think MCD would make more sense if it happened after the events of vanilla.

Let us remember that there may have once been other Heroes who killed the Ender Dragons before. This may also be why there is only 1 dragon left, the others were killed off by Heroes.

There was one dragon left, Jean, killed by Alex, as shown in these statues. In the Winter DLC, I think.
