So me and my friend want to play minecraft together. He sets up a private server, and I cant mine any blocks and it disconnects me every 5 minutes. WTF. His connection is perfect, I am connected to him through Himachi also. And my connection is 5/5.

So you're saying he would need to port-forward? Yes, his RAM is very good so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hamachi doesn't have a large enough bandwidth for a Minecraft server. Also a server takes a good amount RAM to run properly. Port-forwarding is the only option for a reliable server.
