The Blanketoid Manufacturing is a department wing in the Travisa Inc Enrichment Center, in which the mass production and the stockpiling of the Blanketoids and rejection of defective Blanketoids take place.
This department consists of the Blanketoid Assembly and Storage; large metal crates producing the Blanketoid either shipping directly into the Tube Network or into storage, Blanketoid Redemption Lines; conveyor belts leading to incinerators, and the Quality Passing Lines. The first place is the area where Blanketoid parts are cut out from metal sheets using lasers. Various broken and dismantled Turrets are seen being sent towards "redemption",
In a typical Travisa Inc fashion, the functionality of this section is relatively simple (in this case, a conveyor to an incinerator), given a jazzed-up and ironic name. next is a testing area where Blanketoids fire shots at a mannequin. Defective Blanketoids make clicking sounds, followed by them either acting like they work, admitting they don't have bullets, and/or asking for bullets. The next section houses a conveyor belt, and an Emergency Intelligence Incinerator as a means of disposing defective Blanketoids. Beyond the conveyor belt houses a control room where a Master Turret will be scanned for a quality pass.
The tubes use pneumatic pressure to carry various objects around, using a Pneumatic Diversity Vent component of a tube. They are an integral part of the Enrichment Center, connecting every Test Chamber and allowing for simple and automated distribution of Weighted Storage Cubes and other objects, even neurotoxin gas. The Pipe Network was bathed by a glowing orange light, This may be from the numerous incinerators scattered around the facility, such as the Emergency Intelligence Incinerator. the pipe network was designed in an Travisa Inc Laboratories mindset: A ridiculously complex, inefficient, and expensive solution to a simple transportation problem. It is also revealed that Travisa Laboratories has so many generic test chamber props, such as Storage Cubes and Blanketoids, that they simply do not care about what is transported where. The Neurotoxin Generator is a large creation chamber used for the mass-production of neurotoxin, a highly noxious gas that can be distributed throughout the facility for defensive purposes. The generator is located in a large industrial area deep down in the Travisa Inc Enrichment Center, near the Employee Daycare Center. The Employee Daycare Center is a small location located in the Travisa Inc Enrichment Center, between the Blanketoid Manufacturing and the Neurotoxin Generator. The Neurotoxin Generator is a massive cylinder housed within a large room deep underground in the Enrichment Center. Eight large hoses attached allow the gas to be distributed through the Travisa Inc Pipe Network to any location throughout the facility. Its storage capacity is presumably large enough for its contents to cover the entire facility, which is how Dr. Travisa killed almost all of the employees. but the daycare center appears to have been where the children of Travisa Inc employees were sent during "Bring your Daughter to Work Day". There are many small desks with office chairs facing a projection screen with the current Travisa Inc Laboratories logo, as well as filing cabinets at the back of the room. Science projects about potato batteries and a baking soda or vinegar volcano are also in the Daycare Center. There is a banner that says Travisa Inc Bring your Daughter to Work Day hanging up as well. There is an overgrown potato battery experiment near the end. The name of the daughter who made it is "Marinette Scotts". The Travisa Inc Robot Worker is a humanoid robot apparently introduced in the 1980s to replace some human workers in the Enrichment Center, as shown on various posters seen in Test Shaft 09 and the Blanketoid Production Line, The Travisa Inc Extended Relaxation Annex, referred to by Dr. Travisa as the Human Vault, is a huge sealed area in the Travisa Inc Enrichment Center, housing hundreds of Test Subjects in long-term relaxation from the vintage era. Its only entrance is through Test Shaft 08, The Enrichment Center is made of the main testing facilities (with the Test Chambers), administration offices, and maintenance areas that link together most parts of the facility. While the facility seems to mostly be underground, It features on the surface at least one parking lot amidst some verdure/forested areas, as well as a side entrance disguised as an electric shed (which conceals an elevator) in the middle of a wheat field, The Enrichment Center is unprecedently ginormous, even by the standards set by facilities, The salt mine is composed of nine vertical shafts, each at least 2500 meters deep and hundreds of meters in length. Within the cavernous shafts is a large abundance of space that remains unused by Travisa Inc, and installations are often suspended above huge drops that extend deep into the mines. Between the Enrichment Center and the Test Shafts is a large hatch that, when open, allows an elevator to connect the original facility to the modern one. The Mobility Gel pipe system also flows through this connecting hatch. The modern facility is supported by a vast array of large springs, likely a network of seismic isolators, to prevent sensitive research equipment from being affected by the instability of the mineshafts below. The Facility is at LEAST ~7 kilometers deep and possibly hundreds of meters in length,
The Enrichment Center contains numerous "Test Chambers" where Test Subjects are trained to perform simple to complicated tasks with the Travisa Inc Handheld Hopper Device. The tests are monitored by Dr. Travisa and security cameras. Travisa Inc scientists can watch the tests in small offices spread around the test chambers.
Each Test Subject is accommodated in a Relaxation Vault with no privacy, set within a Test Chamber, with transparent walls, and connected to the outside with a portal.
At the start of each Test Chamber is a large rectangular luminous panel that lights itself when the Test Subject approaches, accompanied by a loud hum. The number of the current Test Chamber covers the whole upper half of the panel; under is the current test's completion bar, with the current chamber number against that of the final one, and the proper completion bar below, getting longer as each Test Chamber is completed (it is made of 76 lines; each Test Chamber starts with 4 more lines - Test Chamber 01 starts with 4 lines; Test Chamber 00 starts with the 76 lines, reached again at the start of Test Chamber 26). Under the bar are two rows of five of squares, each containing a logo of what the Test Subject is expected to see in the following chamber. The panel ends with a standard Travisa Inc Laboratories logo at the very bottom.
A notable feature among the Test Chambers is the stark atmosphere. All of the walls and floors are a plain gray, and the overall feeling is one of a clinic or clean room, constructed of hundreds of robotic arms carrying panels, which collectively form the walls, ceilings, and floors. It is this modular system that allows Dr. Travisa to construct an infinite variety of testing spaces and modify them on the fly - this system is also used in other areas throughout the facility,
The original Enrichment Center was constructed at the very bottom of the same salt mine the modern facility was in and built steadily upwards over time. These chambers, containing the Repulsion, Propulsion, and Conversion Gels, were sealed away decades prior, yet they often show far less damage than the ruined facility above. For the most part, some broken catwalks aside, all of the furniture and technology in the abandoned facilities seems to at least appear in good shape, including the prerecorded voice of Elizabeth Amusa. Said chambers were built in enormous geodesic domes and spheres (made from asbestos), stacked on top of one another with markings along the sides of structures to indicate the year they were built. The abandoned Test Chambers are unsealed.
The higher one ascends through the test chambers (and therefore - progressing through more recently built chambers), the lower quality the test chambers and their monitoring areas seem to be. In addition to this, the quality of the test subject diminished over the years as well. While at first astronauts and Olympic champions were hired as test subjects, they were soon replaced by simple hobos picked up from the street and, eventually, the very employees who are supposed to monitor the tests. Both of these facts suggest that Travisa Inc was running out of budget fairly quickly,
The offices comprise the observation rooms that the Travisa Inc staff used to watch Test Subjects executing their task in the Test Chambers, as well as other offices, connected by dimly-lit corridors. The offices contain chairs and computers and seem to have been last used long ago. Computers seem to be stuck into some sort of loop, some are disconnected, their cases open, and several chairs have been knocked over. Clipboards and empty cups are scattered on the desks. Two office areas contain a projection room where a looping slideshow titled "Dollar$ and Sense: Competing with Innovation Inc for DoD and Government-wide Acquisition Contracts" can be seen.
These areas nicknamed "bts", or "behind the scenes" are in good condition, There can be seen many parts of the Travisa Inc Pipe Network (with occasional broken tubes) that brings the Weighted Storage Cubes into the Test Chambers, elevators bringing the Blanketoids, and other machinery. A room dedicated to the maintenance and fixing of the Blanketoids can also be found, as well as a long office dedicated to the maintenance of home computers, overlooking a large room filled with toxic liquid. These areas often provide more platformer-like challenges between Test Chambers. the Central AI room was a large octagonal chamber in the center of the Enrichment Center, in which Dr. Travisa was stored while suspended from the ceiling. In the small lobby area, the Travisa Red Phone is located next to several computers, and numerous Monitor screens line the walls and encircle Dr. Travisa, The chamber has been heavily damaged, and is almost entirely in ruins and overrun with nature. Dr Travisa' remains are scattered around the room.
