Want to play ANY minecraft beta version WITHOUT DOWNLOADING THINGS? Well now you can! All you need is the minecraft 1.6.2 launcher!
WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL 9 STEPS TO PREVENT WORLD CORRUPTION! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR SAVE FILES
WARNING: IT IS RECOMMENDED TO BACKUP YOUR SAVES FILE JUST IN CASE OF WORLD CORRUPTION
Steps:
1. Open up the minecraft launcher and click 'New Profile'.
2. Name the profile to something like '(username) Beta (version number)'. Though, you can name it whatever you wish.
3. Find the check mark box with the words 'Allow use of old "Beta" minecraft versions (From 2010-2011)' and select it.
4. Once you select it a warning pop-up box will appear, click the "Yes" button at the bottom of it.
5. Use the drop down box that's right next to the words 'Use version:' and select the version of minecraft that you want to use (the beta versions will be at the bottom of the list).
6. Now, this step is VERY important and could otherwise break and corrupt your minecraft files. Right under the profile name box there will be a check mark box that says the words 'Game Directory:' next to it and next to that will have a little box that shows the game directory. Select the check mark box and in the box next to it that shows the game directory remove the '.minecraft' part and replace it with 'minecraft(version name here)'.
7. Click 'Save Profile'
8. Make sure you have the right profile selected (you can select a profile using the drop down box at the bottom left corner).
9. Press 'Play' and have fun playing minecraft beta!
