Need an avatar for your Planet Minecraft account? Don't want a boring old still image, but want one that you can make yourself? Want one that's cute and funny?

Then a cute moving licking character avatar is just the thing for you! (Well, depending on how you define "cute"...) If you don't know what I mean by "moving licking character avatar", then look at my avatar, it's a licking avatar!
Licking character avatars are all different characters (NOT human characters, of course! Cuz that would look silly!) but they all do the same thing, lick the screen in a really cute way (again, depends on how you define "cute"), there are lots of different ones out there, but I can tell you, the most popular licking avatars by FAR are ALWAYS the Pokemon ones! With this tutorial, you can make your own licking avatar for your PMC account! I made my licking PMC avatar myself! Mine's a Glaceon!

So follow these steps to make your own licking PMC avatar!

1. Download the licking avatar character template using this link: http://www.mediafire.com/i/?ufgo0s21nouhyga

2. Open the template in Paint (assuming you have Windows). (Note: older versions of Paint are better for this because it is easier to find the buttons used in this tutorial but you CAN use the Paint on Windows 7).

3. Colour in each of the frames (sorry for my spelling if it's weird, but I'm Aussie) , first, I highly recommend that you go to "view" then change the zoom to 800% (or in Paint on Windows 7, keep clicking the zoom in button until it hits maximum), (so you can go into detail more easily with the colouring) and draw extra details in with the pencil tool. If you want to add extra things onto (or edit) the shape of the character's body, (for example on my Glaceon I had to add the extra hair-like bits hanging down from it's forehead), then outline the added features in black so they blend in with the rest of the body and look like they were part of the template in the first place.

4. Once you have coloured in all the frames, then click on the "select" tool (the rectangle with the dotted outline) and select the first frame, then right click on the frame and click "copy".

5. Open a second window in paint so you can do a second project in paint at the same time.

6. Go into the second window in paint and in the toolbar, (where it says "file", "edit", "view", "colours", etc.), click on "image" and then options will come up, then click on the option "attributes". An image size settings box will come up. (In Paint on Windows 7, go to the "home" tab in the toolbar and select "resize", this will bring up the same thing).

7. In the "attributes" box (the image size box) (or "resize" box in Paint on Windows 7), there are boxes which show the height and width of the image (or in this case, the empty canvas area. Because what I am talking about now is in the second window in paint, remember?). Change the height in the box to 50 and the width in the box to 50 then click OK. This will make our empty canvas 50x50. (In Paint on Windows 7, there will be 2 options up the top of the box for the units of measuring the canvas area size, make sure that the option "Pixels" is selected, NOT "percentages"! Then, once "pixels" is selected for the units of measuring size, set the height and width BOTH to 50. Then click OK. This will do the same thing.)

8. You will see that now the canvas area is smaller. Use the "select" tool again and select any part of the empty canvas area, then right click on the selected area and click on "paste" this will paste a copy of the first frame in the GIF (that we copied earlier) onto the canvas area. Since the frame is exactly the same size as empty canvas area (50x50), the frame will automatically centre itself and fill up the entire canvas area.

9. Once the frame is pasted on the canvas area, then click on "file" and "save as" (or you could just use "ctrl s")
then, name it something that will tell you which frame it is, like: *name of character*_lick_f*frame number*, put the name of the character that is in the GIF, underscore (hold down "shift" on the hyphon or minus sign key) lick, "f" for frame, and frame number. (eg. the first frame in my Glaceon lick GIF would be called: glaceon_lick_f1).

10. Now that the frame is saved, click on "file" and "new" (or "ctrl n"). Your canvas area will be cleared so you can put a new frame on it. But don't worry! You will have a safe copy of the frame that was already there before saved. This is how you make all the frames individual images for the GIF.

11. Go back to the first window in paint (the character template) and repeat steps 4-10 (pasting the frames into the canvas in the second window in paint) with all the other frames so you can make all the frames individual images. HOWEVER, when repeating the steps, DO NOT do steps 5 and 6 again, because you will only use 2 windows in paint and when you start a new canvas area in Paint, it will be the same size as your old one (50x50). However, if for some reason, when you click "new" ,the size of the canvas area is reset to the default size, then go back to "attributes" (or "resize" for Paint on Windows 7) and change the size back to 50x50 pixels.

12. Once all the frames are saved as individual images (via steps 4-10, excluding steps 5 and 6), then go to http://www.myspacegens.com/handler.php?gen=animatedimage

13. On myspacegens.com, first will be a box under the heading "size". Click on the box and change the size to custom, then, like in Paint for "image" "atributes", put the size as 50x50, then, un-tick the box which says "prevent my images from being stretched or distorted" (trust me). Then, go to the box under the heading "speed" and click on "faster (100ms)". Thirdly, (now you will know why I wanted you to put the frame number in the file names when saving), upload the frames of the character template in chronological order, then click "upload". After that, go down to the bottom of the page and click "submit". Once your licking character GIF is finished, dowload it IMMEDIATELY! It will delete your GIF after a while, so you MUST download it as soon as it finishes.

14. The GIF will come in it's original format. IT used to come on the form of a zip file. But it doesn't anymore. So no need for winzip or anything! :DDD

15. Go to "edit my profile" on PMC, upload the GIF as your avatar and ENJOY! :D
