Greetings humanoids, Zoralink here. Now this rant is a much-hackneyed topic, but hopefully my version of the rant will be different from othero s rants. Now many of the readers must know what unoriginal/recoloured skins are, and at present there are a lot. A few days ago I flagged a skin. Guess what it was. Hint hint: A Steve skin taken from the char.png and given white eyes. Yes, all the person did was give the default skin two white eyes, and call it his Herobrine skin. Io m sick of this. The person put in little to no effort at all, and it sickens me to see good, inventive skins from new people just being swept to the bottom of the Skins section. I described the phenomena on chat the other day. I called it the o Avalanche Of Pixels.o (If you have any suggestions for a new name, post it in the comments.) Now, as a budding skinner myself, I posted a little Doctor Who skin. Waited, then checked where it was. It had gone straight to the bottom of the page in under a minute. Now really? The Skins section is undoubtedly the most-used place on PMC, but seriously, must you GET ALL OF YOUR SKINS ON QUICK SO THEY DONo T MELT, or should you take intervals in posting? Because the speed with which new skins are posted almost rivals the speed with which YouTube videos are posted every minute. To put it into perspective, if you were to watch all the videos posted on the Internet in one minute, it would take you your entire lifetime.
But back to the unoriginality, you actually cano t be unoriginal. If you make, for example, a teen skin, make it outlandish. Make it stand out. Shade it differently. Just make sure, when the time for posting comes, that your skin doesno t look very similar to the three thousand+ teen skins already there.
Oh, and here we go! Now thiso ll be interesting. One-colour/recoloured skins. I saw a skin that was called o Butter Man,o a clear reference to Skydoesminecraft. Now this would be enough to annoy most people, but it was two to three different shades of yellow. There were no facial features. There were no easily distinguishable limbs. It was a yellow mess. And I hate to admit, but Io ve been there. Io ve made some three-four colour skins. Luckily Io m learning to shade. And always, no matter how good the Skins section is looking, there is always a blatant recolour of someone elseo s skin. And the funny thing is, all these recolors are usually by people who have no concept of skinning. (A bit like me, then. ;D)
So yes. This is all my opinion, dono t take it as fact (Hardly likely.)
