I started to work on the hull that MHeller3000 imported into the Minetrek2.0 game sever minetrek.net about a month back.
MHeller3000 imported a 1:1 scale hull of the USS Enterprise B that he ported from a 3d model. Scaling it to the correct size caused a doubling of the blocks that needed to be cleaned away in order to gain all the build-able area within the hull. I started that process and worked on it for three days off and on until it was cleaned up.
The Nacelle took the longest time to do because it had a ton of artifact blocks in it that just made it a huge mess internally.
Using the new minetrek 1.5.1 64HD texture pack created by many talented folks for use with the Minetrek.net server, I began to work on the exterior hull.
I outlined where many things needed to be so that I could place the internal components and areas correctly within the hull. Things like phasers, shuttle bay doors, cargo hatches, impulse engines, etc.
Once that process was done I laid out the deck height to make sure that I could fit 25 decks into the build. Once that process was completed MHeller3000 created the warp core for the build and we imported that into the build to begin laying out the internals.
From there the hangers were mocked up. The lower hanger took some time to make a workable version that included work-bee alcoves, dual doors, storage, aft torpedo launcher, etc. Mheller3000 and I revised it a few times to insure that it was as close to cannon as we could get it given our reference data.
We then did a mock up of the engineering area. At first I generated two version of the engine room. One based off of the engine room seen on the Enterprise E, and one that was more in line with that seen in the Enterprise A. After much consideration and debate, we chose to go with the one that similar to the Enterprise A. (No worries though, I have a use for the one we didn't use when I begin work on the TNG era Ambassador Class)
After the engine room was completed we began to work on the areas we had seen in the Star Trek movie, Star Trek Generations. Those area's being the main bridge, Deflector Control, sick bay, and the deflector area. As most trek fans know, Kirk was in the Deflector Control (Port Side) Room when he was lost. That area had to be as close to the area we had seen in the move and thankfully we had a few hi-res images of that compartment (set) to model from. After some tweaking we were able to emulate the room quite accurately.
From there we worked on setting up the cargo bays, finalized the aft hanger, shuttle parking, Deck 1 and the main computer bay.
MHeller3000 created a great Deuterium tank and pod evacuation area as well as determining areas to place the hidden escape pods. With those areas mocked out, we added in the escape pods, and yes there are many of them, and began designing the internal corridor/room lay outs.
We also worked out the turbo lift and Jefferies Tubes (JT's) were they needed to go. While MHeller3000 began work on the Enterprise E hull I continued to work on the B.
I placed the Impulse Engines into the hull, did the exterior work on the Nacelle, tweaked the hull in areas that needed to be refined, and began work on the saucer section of the build.
We are about 30% finished with the first version of the build. The basic lay out is pretty much completed for the secondary hull with the addition of the Arboretum, warp conduits, and placements for major engineering areas, crew quarters, rec areas, transporters, and other.
If you want to tour the latest version of the build please come take a tour of the build on the minetrek.net server.
Suggestions and comments are always welcome.

Update #6 : by Atrocities 08/18/2013 7:31:50 pmAug 18th, 2013
We have mirrored in both forward torpedo bays and magazines now. More finish work on the interior has been concluded as well as some minor hull tweaks.
Work continues on the Nacelles which should be completed sometime this upcoming week time permitting. More internal system are designed but not yet added to the build. They are pending final tweaks and affordments.
Please stop by the server to see the progress. Also work has begun on the Enterprise A and the TOS enterprise has been mirrored. The action team on those two builds have been working diligently and would appreciate any kind words of support offered.
Also the Fearless has been added to the map. She is a constitution class refit with quad nacelles, an upper hanger bay, additional torpedo bays, modern phaser arrays and interior design changes. She is a Super Constitution Class refit used during the Dominion war.
Use the dynmap feature to locate all the ships on the sever. Fearless is located just next to two mothballed Enterprise D's dynmap.minetrek.net/ at the bottom of the page.
