Recently, i have experimented with redstone in one of my creative worlds. While doing this, i have created a block recognizer. using this recognizer, i have created a pumpkin-based economy. this unlocks new things for adventure maps, vanilla servers, and just recreation.
It works like this; there are 2 snow blocks placed over a pressure plate. this pressure plate can activate many redstone things like dispensers, doors, or even pistons.
