I'd like to thank everyone for helping me make it to 19th place. Very nice..Some might say that 20th place isn't much, but compared to the amount of other entries, I did extremely well. So thanks again!
Greetings viewer(s), Mr_Pwnz0r here with one of my many blogs to come! I noticed many different Minedeas on fishing, farming, etc. So I decided to make a little more detailed blog, with some extra ideas thrown in. I honestly wasno t planning on entering this contest, but Candleboro s shotgun said otherwise. So did Wazuluo so ¦In other words, I had to enter. So here I am with an original idea about a more o Vivid Survivalo . Now, leto s get down to business.
What is this idea even about you ask? Well, leto s use some good old fashion elementary school skills to figure that out. The word o vivido has a few different meanings, but I find the second definition to be the most suiting. It means: o Full of life; lively; animated: a vivid personality o . Or even the third definition, o Forming distinct and striking mental imageso . So in other words, it is realistic, and down to detail. It will give you a gaming experience like no other. Now for the other half of the topic: Survival. This word also has a few definitions; but I find the first to be the best, o The act or fact of surviving, especially under adverse or unusual circumstanceso . Time to combine both definitions for both words (Hurray :P)! This Minedea is basically about bringing the gameplay closer to reality and to drastically alter the overall experience given to the player. And yes, weo re keeping the pixels and youo re going like it. Now that youo ve got the idea down, leto s get a little bit more specific. To the details we go!
First on the list, we have a few ideas about animals. In Minecraft it is way too easy to hunt and breed animals. Unlike in MC, hunting and taming in real life is a tad harder. And by a tad, I mean a lot harder. Right now, weo ll talk about hunting, which will branch off into even more realistic taming. You can face many problems while hunting, such as, scaring off target, missing a shot, and sometime not even finding an animal. In Minecraft, the only problem youo ll probably face is falling into ditches (if youo re me, at least) or if the hunting trip runs a little o lateo . Dono t you think thato s a little too easy for us? Now for a few ideas to improve hunting in MC. To start off, it would be great to see the animals run away other than if you hit them. You should have to plan out your attack, and be stealthy, not just walk up and kill the [insert animal here]. Sticks and other objects should be added into the game to alert your prey, as well as surrounding animals. They should have a certain amount of tolerance to noise before they flee. Not only would this make hunting harder and more realistic, but it can add fun and achievements too. Ito s also harder to breed an animal than youo d think, if you based your thoughts on Minecraft. There is a simple way to make breeding more realistic, make it harder to do.
Secondly, fitting in with Hunting, there should be a wider range of tools to choose from while performing your daily tasks that you must do to survive. What do I mean? Guns. o Nuff said. Sure ito s enough said, but Io m going to talk about it anyways. No, not the futuristic guns, but guns that fit into the time period of Minecraft. This involves flintlocks, blunderbusses, and other black powder (gun powder) firearms. There should be a vast amount of ranged weapons to choose from, and like in real life, each weapon would be used for hunting different animals. This also adds a use for gunpowder other than TNT (I have tons of gunpowder, but am allergic to TNT c;). Just because you have a gun doesno t mean you can walk throughout the forest carelessly. Hostile animal mobs should be added to the game as well. Now there are a few dangers of walking around in daylight too, so you better pack that newly acquired rifle with you at all times. Leto s move on to another topic everyone has been talking about since time itself.
Fishing, did you guess it? Pretty much everyone would like to see more done with the ocean biome. This is a pretty generic idea everyone is using, so judges, dono t take away points from everything else x3 (or Io ll get The Adam Bomb to bomb you :3). Unlike hunting that only needs to be updated a little bit, fishing must be updated a lot to meet the standards of the community. Personally, I dono t go near oceans in MC (Io ll drown with all the goodies Io m packing), just rivers, but many people still complain about it. So a simple way to do this is by adding life. Maybe a few fishies, hostile ocean dwellers (sharks, piranha, etc.) and of course, better squids (Youo re welcome Smanrt xD). The newly added fish will create a better experience while fishing. How will it make become a better experience with these updates? Right now, fishing is purposeless (as Notch described) besides getting fish for Ocelots. If fishing becomes more fun, and has more uses that weigh out the long wait, more people will do it. Said updates will make fishing lively.

[Left side: Fish in sea] [Right side: Awareness meter in action]
Now that Io ve started talking about it, I see why it has become such a popular topic here on PMC. New topic please?
Fourthly, we have a few more ideas that will drastically improve a playero s hunting experience. Weo ll start off with traps. Said trap idea with add two new craftable traps into Minecraft. The first ensnarement weo ll talk about are cage traps. The definition of cage is, o A boxlike enclosure having wires, bars, ore the like, for confining birds and/or animalso . It also says displaying along with confining, but weo ll set that aside. Now that you know the definition of the word cage, it is pretty simple to determine what a cage trap is. But if you haveno t figured it out by now, it is a cage that allows animals to enter, but not exit. This would be an effective way to catch animals overnight, if youo re busy, or just too lazy. You simply have to craft the cage, place it, and let it work its magic. o Oh, but Mr_Pwnz0r, if Io m already out in the woods to set the trap, why not just kill the animals while Io m there?o Well the answer is rather simple, once you place the trap down with a lure (see paragraph under this for lures) animals will spawn within a certain distance from it, thus allowing capture in the most unpopulated of areas. Depending on the biome, you will catch a certain kind of animal. But this is supposed to be realistic, isno t it? In real life, there is never a 100% chance of catching an animal, which is why I decided to make it a little interesting. Depending on the time, biome, and temperature (See bottom paragraph for more on temperature), you will have a different amount of chance to catch an animal. Speaking of catching animals, time for the next trap! The second trap is called a snare trap. Goodie! Time for the next definition, a snare is, o Anything serving to entangle unawares; trap.o And again, with the definition, it is pretty easy to determine what a snare trap is. But again, Io ll still tell you what it is! A snare trap is basically a wire that entangles an animalo s legs when they step on the trigger. Similar to the cage trap, this would capture prey while youo re doing whatever you need to do.
[Left: Cage Trap] [Right: Snare Trap]
These traps would be a great for Minecraft because it adds fun, realism, and would be pretty friggin awesome. Now for another few ideas to improve your Survival experience.
Another great edition to Minecraft would be lures, calls, and scents. As always, time for an explanation; not only of what these are, but what they do, and how it would improve a playero s Minecraft experience. Leto s get to work. A lure is either defined as, o Anything that attracts, entices, or allures.o Or even as, o A decoy; live or especially artificial bait used in fishing or trapping.o So, as said in the paragraph above, these lures would be used along with a trap, or to lure animals toward your hunting grounds for some live game. So ito s basically used as a typical spawner, but compared to regular spawners, the area that animals spawn is a far greater distance. It could also be used to attract more fish, but Io m not going to get into detail about that. Now for the next item, hunting calls. Unlike most of the other ideas, the hunting call is more of a tool. A call is defined as, o An instrument for imitating a cry and attracting or luring an animal: He bought a duck call.o A hunting call would be used similarly as a lure is used; but a call has shorter range, is a tool, and like other tools, it has a breaking point. Now for the final part of this paragraph, adding scents to Minecraft. Of course, Io ll be telling the definition, o An odor left in passing, by means of which an animal or person may be traced.o I created this because I noticed people talking about want dogs to be more interactive. Once you right-click your hound with a certain scent (pig, cow, etc.) it will start walking toward the nearest area populated by the needed animal. Once it arrives at its destination, it will then kill the desired animal, and bring meat back to the player. But, if the closest desired animal is too far away, it wono t do anything (except waste your hunting scent). The hunting scents would act similar to bones; there is only a chance of the animal being able to trace the scent. These scents would enhance the fun in Minecraft because of its ability to create interactions between a player and their dog, it adds realism, and again, would create fun. Time for the next topico ¦

[Left: Pig Lure] [Center: Hunting Call] [Right: Hunting Scents]
Sixthly, the biomes are just too plain. In real life, trees vary in height and type. There should be specific trees for different fruits and materials (Sort of like the different kind of trees having different bonus goodies). The forests should be thicker and denser, with the occasional bush or shrubbery around. This would make the biomes more realistic and better to look at, in my belief that is. The better biomes idea isno t really a gigantic one, but a simple and effective one.
One before lastly, there should be added into the game. These seasons would act along with the items in the other paragraphs. Depending on the season, lures would attract seasonsdifferent amount of animals, and different types of animals. This adds realism, as in real life, there are different hunting seasons for different animals. Seasons would also affect the playero s temperature (See bottom paragraph), which may lead to high chances of hypothermia, infections, and other diseases. Minecraft would benefit from this because it too adds realism, and compliments the other ideas. Now for the final topic of this entryo ¦
Io ve saved the best for last. If it isno t obvious by reading this blog, Minecraft is just way too easy. All you have to do to survive is has some functional tools, ability to produce food, and some armor. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing a few new effect bars. Said effect bars would be the basics: Thirst, stealth, temperature, wounds, and chance of infection by disease. These meters will bring great challenge and enjoyment to the hardcore playing community. Stealth will act as the noise bar for hunting and fishing. Obviously, the thirst meter is for drinking; it just doesno t make sense to feel hungry, but not thirsty. With the temperature meter added, players face the threat of hypothermia, and other temperature related illnesses. Temperature would affect your movement speed as well as your swimming speed in certain water types (Icy water, swamp water, etc.). Temperature will also affect your risk of infections. But dono t worry, you areno t turning into a zombie any time soon. These infections will act similar to poison affect. You will lose a certain amount of damage per time limit depending on your wound bar. What is that wound bar I speak of? It is just like your health bar, but doesno t restore as quickly. The lower your wound bar is, the higher infection damage will take. Good luck dyeing, friends! :D

The new and improved: Steve's condition section!
~ Basic health, armor, and food icons
~ Blood drops: Wounds
~ Bottles: Thirst
~ EXP-looking bars: Stealth, infection chance, and temperature
Very great layout huh? It would be a great edition to Minecraft.
Well, ito s been fun and all. But I really must get going. I hope you enjoyed my Minedea, hopefully now I wono t face the danger of Wazuluo s or Candleboro s shotguns. Thank you all for reading; and I must commend the judges for reading all these blogs, I know it must take a lot of your time if everyoneo s is as long as mine. So keep it up guys! Now, enough has already been said; but I simply must thank you one last time. Thanks for reading, have a nice day.
