Hello there ladies and gentlemen. You're all aware of how this works by now, so let's get right to it. The following is purely my opinion and is not intended to be interpreted as fact.
This was a big week for structures. There were a lot of really impressive fantasy cities, and a few server spawns that really stood out. There was one build, however, that was fresh, creative, and pushed the very boundaries of boat builds to new heights. That build was the Galley of the Ancestors, created by adybuddy_.
From now on, whenever anyone utters the word ‘creativity’, this build should immediately pop into your mind. It’s one of the largest, most elegant sea crafts I’ve ever seen on PMC, complete with hanging lanterns, lavish architecture, a giant anchor, and beautiful sails that- wait, are those sails made of trees?!? HOLY ------, IT’S GOT TREES FOR SAILS!!!
Yes, my first time viewing it, I actually didn’t notice the lush, leafy sails. But, yes, the sails do come in the form of trees, and yes the ship is covered with rich terraforming as well. The absolute genius who came up with this idea deserves a medal of some kind. Can somebody please melt some gold and cast it in some kind of profoundly positive shape? Seriously, do it.
Whatever. There may be no medals, but there are diamonds, and PMC has no shortage of those. The thing I really love about this build is that though the idea is to integrate a ship with some terraforming, adybuddy_ didn’t skimp on either part. Maximal effort was put into both portions of the build, resulting in one of the most detailed and elegant sea crafts, sprinkled with some truly exceptional earthy goodness.
It’s a seaworthy gem that transcends the ordinary and all too common boats that we’re used to here on PMC, and elevates the category to heights previously unknown. Oh, and did I mention that adybuddy_ somehow enlisted the help of not one, not two, but three amazing render aficionados (namely goCreative, Splekh, and Bramboss1)? Yeah, that’s the finishing touch that turns the extraordinary into the, well, extra-extraordinary.
This week, it was a veritable battle of titans in the terraforming category. Three master terraformers of the ages uploaded works of sheer might and genius, clashing in the most spectacular of fashions! LeafySeaRabbit, jannekloeffler (our defending champion), and imbilio produced some truly incredible works, but as you all know: There can only be one! This week, imbilio claimed the incredibly slim victory with his epic Custom Biome Terrain!
This map is so immense, so crisp, and so realistic that it boggles the mind. A vast, diverse, and might I say impeccable landscape reaching across the fabric of time. I use big words because I’m infatuated with this map. Sue me. >:(
There are so many different regions here, that it’s honestly hard to keep track of them all. From the arid mesa to the icy tundra, the rolling plains to the mountainous peaks, the temperate forests to the sandy dunes, this map provides a plethora of goodies and mind-blowing complexity. Do make sure not to drool on your keyboard while you’re looking at this utter masterpiece.
This is truly one of the best terraforming projects I’ve seen all year, and one that I will not soon forget. It’s not even that big compared to some of the most massive landscapes, but it is nonetheless an inspiration to all (or at least it should be).
Yes, Jannek, I know. Your two-week dynasty was snatched away at the last moment. Next time, buddy. Next time. ;)
Needless to say, there was a lot of outstanding organic work this week. I saw giant hell ravens, battles between monstrous titans, and some truly abstract masterpieces. There was one, however, that just knocked it out of the park. Actually, it knocked it clear out of the stratosphere. It’s orbiting Mars now (I think). The best organic work of the week was Phaloria - Goddess of the Sky, created by DJpaulii.
This is truly exceptional work that, I’m guessing took thousands of years to make. If you’re wondering how it was started before Minecraft even existed, it might interest you to know that an inter-dimensional time gate was involved. This is just a crazy project, and it’s detailed beyond belief.
Phaloria sits atop a cloudy arch, with pointy stuff sticking out the bottom. Gears, pistons, wheels, and other tech-related stuff surrounds the cloud in glorious fashion. I don’t know what any of the gears do, or what the overall function of this device is, but damn it looks cool. Oh, and there’s this floating factory thingamajig hanging out just beside it. Just because.
I’m well aware that humanoid figures are difficult to build in Minecraft, but DJpaulii makes it look oh-so-easy. Phaloria is perfectly executed, and the gears and tech around her are crisp, clean, and an absolute joy to look at. It’s one of the best organic projects of the year, and I would even say it’s a close contender with Esther the Dragon. Who will win at the end of the year? You’ll have to wait and see.
Oh, and apparently Phaloria was based on some nifty artwork. The likeness is amazing.
Thank you very much for reading/watching this blog/vlog! If you liked it, please consider tossing me a diamond, and don't forget to share your diamonds with this week's winners! I'll see you all next week! Bye guys!
