So today, I got on to minecraft and opened an old world that i had not played on in a long time. By a long time, I mean since 1.5 long. Right when I got on, I fell through the sky. Naturally. Always happens due to lag when opening one of my worlds. But it was no where near normal.
What had happened was that switching from 1.5 to 1.8 after such a long time stripped all of the loaded chunks of every single block except bedrock. EVERY single block. Except bedrock. Weird, right?

I had begun to explore, and noticed that unloaded chunks loaded normally, and had newly generated territory. Naturally. Why would they not? At this exact moment, that heart wrenching, awe inspiring music minecraft loves to throw at us started and stabbed deep into my soul. And I thought to myself, "Is this not a metaphor to life?"
Going through life, we replace the things we loved with more things we think we love. Our internal greed forces us to bring about change that we believe is for the better. We entole upon ourselves to make things better, but in the end, is it really more than empty air?
If we look back on ourselves, take a moment, a breath, we can clearly see that these changes we try to make to "upgrade" ourselves as a society are pointless, as we go in cirlces. We will always strive to be Romeo or Juliett, even if we do not try. We will follow set patterns like everyone else, and our little endeavors will do nothing but brand an illusion on ourselves that we are "better." But really, we are just empty air.
We watch as we realise this, and  we take notice that the others around us are moving along. They do not realise that they are empty air, and perhaps we do not either. They grow and seem beautiful and shiny and new next to our empty-looking selves, because we are empty air.
We beseech others why we are so, but they are too tall, to elaborate, and we are empty air.
We are empty air, and we must teach others these realizations, and bring ourselves to not a better life, but a happier one. Drop your greed and anger, drop your crave and lust for expansion of knowledge, for it brings nothing but strife and unsettled business. We see ourselves as empty air, but God sees us as something else. He made us all inividually, and loves us all. However you see it, expansion will reach nothing but emptiness, but your faith, friends and family, happiness, and all the other things good in life will bring you nothing but fullness. We are empty air without the true meaning of life.
