Weird square imprints in deserts????? Desert Dungeons?

Hey guys as i was exploring a desert i came across a peculiar perfectly square indent in the ground. Although i didn't get to count how many blocks wide or whatever it did intrigue me that there was cobblestone which is only obtainable by breaking stone with a pickaxe. At first i thought Notch was restarting the herobrine craze but after digging them up i found them to have a spawner for zombies and a chest, which means there are desert dungeons apparently. I don't know were these here before 1.2.4 or are they new? respond if you happened to find any yourself.

Yeah once I found one It was one of my first worlds it was 1.3

It has been there for a long. It's just chance that you happened to walk by a dungeon so close to the surface and the sand fell into it.

This is ordinary to see a Dungeon to spawn directly in the desert, to my knowledge, This is normal in any patch that has Dungeons added to it.
