Getting popular/download/diamond/sub by skinning is the hardest way: just check the stats:
-560k skins
-180k projects
-the rest is between 5 and 80k.
I think that those stats just explain your problem: there are so many skinner, and even if your skins are good, they're unviewed because of the amount of other -good- skins realeased in the same time.
So, to answer to your ask, if you wanna get popular/viewed/sub/diamonded, yes skinning is a waste of time. Only skinners that don't waste their time are mods/first skinners/well known youtuber.
Advertise your skins here, www.planetminecraft.com/chat/ (read the rules).
Yeah. It sucks when you make something and people don't look at it. That's how everyone starts off. Nobody gets 'popular' over night.
I looked at tutorials and improved, and eventually people started to like my skins.
Put your time into learning where to place shades, how to pick colours and highlights instead of making a blog complaining.
