Ok, going away from the ROTW blogs (although, don't worry, ive got a good idea for next weeks one) ive a sort of question blog. Why do people use servers?
I ask this as ive never really been on a server. When it comes to multiplayer minecraft, theres about me and about 10 of my friends who play together. A couple of them have servers, there not always open, but someone will open one up if we feel like playing. However whenever i go on other servers, i never really feel the attraction. They all feel the same, you go on, read a set of rules, then...well, what do you do then. I get to the point when i build a house or join a faction but then it gets a bit tedious. This is why i like playing with my friends, when we play together, we'll work together to build a big house/mine/farm/mob grinder, but when you play on a server you don't really get much help. It takes quite a while to build up a reputation on these servers i'd imagine, and i don't want to have to devote lots of my time to server (and sometimes, money) to get recognized or respected. Especially when all to often you hear stories of people who got kicked off their favourite server for no reason, or griefed or whatever. So my question to you is, what is it about public servers that attracts you, or are you like me, who only plays with friends?

Like on my favourite public server,i spent 3 hours of my night on making a epic rollercoaster, but in the morning, all i found we a few broken tracks and a sign saying "trollolololol"
and i play on sparkys minecraft
My current server situation is like yours: I have 10 or so friends who sometimes run a server, and often join mine, and I leave it at that. I usually never actually join active public servers due to the prevalence of rules, some ranking system, or some other aspect that I don't really like, as well as the fact that no matter what, there will be griefers.
And I despise griefers.
