I've seen two of these skin contests and I think they are pretty awesome but I have a few suggestions about them.
Sure, the First Place gets about five gets about five prizes and other crap, but Second and Third are only given a feeble pixel trophy and their profile featured for a week. Isn't that pretty unfair? First should get three prizes, the Second should get two prizes and Third should one prize. Then Fourth to Tenth should get a trophy with their place on it.
I think that there should be two or three small skin groups for the contests so that we can always do something different. You'd also see more fresh ideas for each instead of just full engineers or zombies.
The fact that you can only post one skin for a contest is pretty annoying. There should be a limit of three or four instead of one or infinite skins.

Too many are posting (stolen/not creative/useless) skins that some good ones can get lost =(
1. there is a hell lot more for judges to go through
2. more likley chance of more of the skins being unoriginal
3. 1 person could get 1st 2nd and 3rd place and that wouldnt be fair
for "skin groups" They do contests frequently.. you don't need mini-contests in your contests so you can contest while you contest.
As far as skins.. it's up to you to put your best skin in the contest.. having multiple skins just sounds like more work for the judges.
All in all it sounds like you just want a "better chance of winning by allowing people to put more into the conests" when really all you're doing is creating more work for the judges.
