Let's start by saying this is my opinion.
Sometimes, when you work hard on something, you need someone else to give their opinion. Tell you if you failed it or nailed it.
But not all of their opinions are honest.
What can you take from their opinions?
What is and what isn't a good feedback?
We're talking about any kind of feedback, criticism, opinion.
You might be thinking: "Well, that's easy! Positive feedback is good and negative feedback is bad."
Not so fast, bro. It isn't always like that.
When you post something on Planet Minecraft, for example, the most common response from the comunity is:
- "Nice"
This is, in fact, a really bad feedback, because you can't get anything from it. Why is it "nice"?
When I go and see the comment section of Arestian's Dawn, I get a lot of responses like:
- "This is awesome!"
Or even:
- "This is the BEST texturepack ever!"
This is really positive feedback, and it tells you people are liking what you are doing. But it isn't Good Feedback.
I know that texturepack isn't the best one, and I want to improve it.
Keep in mind you also get things like:
- "I don like it becuz the mountains is still default"
This feedback is not understandable. Althought it isn't positive, you can't understand the point, so just ignore it.
On the other hand, you could get something like this:
- "I HATE the windows!"
There we go! Finally someone has a critic I can hear! I now know the glass texture needs to be improved. It is already a start. Althought this is a really negative oppinion, it helped me improve, as you can see. It told me I was doing something wrong.
Sometimes people trash feedback that is vital. They only aim for the positive and they forget that they make mistakes.
There is also the professional feedback, the best one.
It can be positive:
- "I like this pack, you did a really good job on the items, but you could improve the details on the GUI."
Or negative:
- "I don't like the way you did the GUI. It needs more detail."
It doesn't matter weather they're positive or negative. They both told me the GUI needs a change and pointed out it needs more detail, and that, for me, is all it matters. I thank these guys a lot more than the rest.
So, to conclude this article
TL;DR:
Feedback is vital to evolve on your styles and techniques. You should give a feedback as honest as possible on a work.
But the "fault" is not just on the person who gives feedback, it is also on the person who (doesn't) hear it. Wether the feedback is positive or negative, keep in mind the message it transmits, not the intention of the words. Listen to the critics like you listen to the compliments. Everyone makes mistakes, and you should learn from them.
Don't disapprove, improve.
I hope I made myself clear. I also hope you enjoyed this post and you found it helpful and didn't mind my horrible horrible mispells.
Also, if I don't reply to comments, it doesn't mean I didn't read them.

that's right.
The joke must be made.
But taking time to view the build/pack/whatever in detail takes lots more time people nowerdays dont have because while viewing 15 secs at your submission they missed something important on a not to name social network.
Anyway this blog definitely changed the way of my comments. I was trying to give even some hints to improve what i was looking at, now i will do even more!
Thanks for this blog dude!
Anyway, I've had that skin since summer of 2013.
