Hi guys, Greytopher here with a more... clarifying blog then I usually write. Last blog was of the difference of fact and opinion, but this time I want to help some people understand the importance of the blog section of PMC. Recently, I've been hearing members saying 'What's the point of the blogs section?' Well, I'll try to help you understand why it's so important to others.

*Reminder to those who may take this the wrong way: this is not a hate blog on the blogs section. This is to help others who dislike it to see what IS there to like.*

It Expresses Creativity...

Throughout PMC, the blogs section is truely... creative and different. People post blogs that may not be related to minecraft or PMC, but since we're mostly a respecting community, it's usually not taken down. We look at these people and think: Their writing style is very nice. It's well formated, blah blah blah. We usually don't heckle people for writing things that aren't related to Minecraft or PMC, but sometimes it happens. The point of this being: we treat the blogs section to express how we feel. We use it to help others and ourselves, but others look at it differently.

I know a couple of people have been thinking to take down the blogs section. What would this mean? Well, all posts you've ever made via the blogs section would be taken down. I don't know if they thought about all the EXP made from it, but that's irrelevant. Others are completely against the idea, such as myself; I find the blogs section of PMC to be very diverse in how it handles certain things. I love what people post in there (usually) and the stuff that gets on the popular reel, for the most part, deserve to be there.

Tutorials, articles, artwork, and more, it's usually found there. People think that stuff like that should go into the forums. Should it? I mean, a lot of things are lost in the forums as is, and it's a big mess in there too. I like the forums and all, but it's really messy and there would be almost no point in posting. Isn't the point of posting a good artice/tutorial/artwork to be rewarded with something bigger then a comment? Isn't that the point of PMC?

Writing is an Art, Along With Skins, Projects, Texture Packs...

These days, it's hard to find someone who's good with writing. Writing is a hard thing to accomplish correctly. For instance, getting in those little details to describe something very small is important. Sentence structure is key to a good blog. Though, not many people appreciate the blogs section of PMC. I find it very entertaining to read, to see what the community has to say rather than art (projects, texture packs, skins). It's fun to read the tutorials it has to offer, things that are so useful to us are learned from eachother. I wouldn't of known how to install the shaders mod again without OliverFrenchie's help.

Although the majority of blogs can be quite dull, it's something to improve on. It's a tool you can use in the future as a possible career; a REAL career in editing, writing, journalism, ect. Writing is something that we use everyday, so why would people think it's pointless on PMC? There are tons of ways that it can be useful here, you just have to think of something creative it can be incorporated with. It wouldn't be pointless either way, after all, we need to be able to read to access the internet in the first place...

I know what you can be thinking: But Grey, there really are a lot of really crappy blogs on PMC, why is it there? Some people just like to abuse the fact of EXP farming. Some people use that as an excuse to remove the wonderful section. But, what's the difference of stealing a skin, or uploading a project with nothing on it, or a stolen texture pack, or a stolen mod? Nothing. They all have the same purpose; someone is using it to EXP farm.

It's Been Improving A Lot!

Whether you believe it or not; it has! Trust me, if you were here when I first joined the site back in July of 2011, this place wasn't really the best. Most blogs are pointless, have no meaning, or just suck in general. Now, I believe that the blogs section of PMC is in its golden age. The age of where, great tutorials, art, and writing are coming into play. But how, exactly?

I believe that there are some people to thank for this change. I'm not going to say specifically to leave anyone out, but these people really ignited the change to take back the blogs section. These people inspired others to write well, and to make creative ideas to write about. I was inspired to write by lots of influential people, including Roxthesox. He was one of the first PMC bloggers I saw when I first started blogging, and I wanted to make sense like he did when he wrote.

Tutorials, most of all, have been a big improvement. It used to be something like: How to survive your first night!!1! or How to make a picaxe!!!1! But lately, it's been quite creative. It teaches people how to shade properly (with video tutorials), how to make good looking cover photos, how to install specific mods, and the list goes on. Without influential people to help the blogs section, it would of probably been removed ages ago.

In Conclusion...

The blogs section of PMC has taken a turn for the best. It's been experiencing wonderfully written blogs by intelligent people, and this is just the beginning of what's to come. I hope that some of you, that have been looking on it negatively, has changed because of this... enlightenment, I guess.

Moving or changing the blogging section to take away EXP would only lower quality submissions, considering how it is now. I hope you understand my views as I've tried to understand yours! If you have any questions about my opinions, feel free to leave a comment.

Hey! I hope you liked the blog! If you did, leave a diamond, favorite, and above all, subscribe fore more!

I like what you said about writing. In my school I am one of 24 students in the whole grade that is in an extended english class. It is so hard to find a good writer out of all the people in the world. Your blogs are one of my favorite and I almost never have bad things to say about yours.

If the blogs section were taken away, I wouldn't have any real reason to come here anymore. Sure I would come here every once in a while looking at mods and such, but overall, I would no longer be here...

I look around and I realize, if they took the blog section away, they would lose a good chunk of the community..

So far my experience on this site has shown the blog section to be about self-help.
