Hey there welcome to my blog about why 1.19 is getting a new dimension!
Think about it what is that big structure at the center of the deep dark why in the files it is called "portal"? Not only that but I want to introduce that the sculk block is a sort of fabric between the overworld and new dimension. Think about it? How does the warden emerge from the sculk? It can feel the vibrations from our world and travels through reality to reach us? Why is the Sculk Catalyst using energy to spread the sculk, becuase it is using the energy to rip both of our dimensions together! Look at the ruined nether portals? Near each one is a sort of spreading nethherack almost as if the nether leaked a bit into the overworld? Now look at the "portal" in the cities they have sculk leaking out of them! WHAT MORE EVIDENCE DO WE NEED? But what would the other dimension be? I think it would be a place where sight is useless. That is why the wardens have adapted to rely on sound and smell more!

1. The center is NOT a portal, you can see that it has some sort of ears, what portal would have ears? I'd say it's more of a altar, or something like that. And in the files, it's not called a portal.
2. The sculk is powered by souls. When you kill a mob near the catalyst, the soul of the mob powers it. Also, the warden in his chest has 3 souls, AND in the shrieker there are 2 spinning souls.
3. There is a chance that wardens were so long in the deep dark, they adapted so that they dont need vision.
4. Level below y 0 wasn't always avaliable, so maybe the bedrock somehow colapsed, and revealed deepslate. Its an area we never seen before. Maybe the sculk already exsisted there, but we never seen it.
5. About the ancient city, there are 2 options. One, that the ancient builders found the sculk and started experimenting on it, but it spread too fast, and overgrown the whole city that they once built. And two, that ancient builders started bulding the city, but then something happened, the sculk started spreading faster than before, they kept on building, and sculk kept on growing.
There is some lore stuff in disc 5, and that they light up a portal, but i would say that it was dark, and they just lit a torch or a candle.
