Hello PMC. I'm _The_Boss_ writing another blog. This is about buying the official Minecraft and about piracy. First, I would like to say that no, Mojang didn't pay me anything to write this. It's just about my personal feelings about the crime that piracy really is.
First of, I would like to talk about my country. Here where I live, piracy is more common than having dinner. Copyright is absolutely not respected. Parents buy cracked games for their sons for 1/40 of the real price. I live in Brazil, one of the countries with more piracy in the ocident. I used to see piracy naturally, until a some time ago. One of the most famous minecraft youtubers from here had tons of dislikes in a video and lot's of hate comments. Why? Because he simply said in one of his videos that he think piracy is a crime (what it really is) and it's unfair with the people who work hard to make a game and don't receive almost any money for the hours they spent creating it.
Later in the same day, he made a video, to tell people why he think piracy is wrong. He had lot's of correct points in his arguments. I understand that there are people who are actually too poor to buy the official copies of the games, but if you are reading this it means you have a computer and internet at home. You are not poor enought to don't spend some bucks buying official games like Minecraft for example. I asked my mom to give me Minecraft as my christmas gift. I was surprised with the price: only 26 dollars. And there are people who don't buy it...
There are advantages in buying Minecraft official. The biggest one is the acess to official servers, which are WAY better than the cracked ones. I also, when I got my official copy of Minecraft in december 31st, felt a lot better than when using the cracked one. Don't know why. But I can surely say that it worth spending 26 dollars in it.
For sure that I'm not saying that from now on you can't use cracked games. That's your choise. But I think it's more fair to use official ones. Maybe in my country this doesn't work really well. We have LOT'S of taxes, principaly in games. A PS2 or XBox game here costs 225 reais (About 125 american dollars). This is very expensive for some people from here. But if you can buy the original copy, why to use the cracked one? Why don't you contribute with the game makers to keep it up? You can spend 26 dollars to get the official Minecraft can't you?
So let's stop piracy, because differently of what some people may think it is actually a crime.
