Take a seat, for this will be a long tale... (Unless you scroll down a bit)

A HISTORY

(2012-2013) I have no idea when Wildcraft started, but I vaguely remember playing around March in 2012 on an old world once known as Paradise Bay. It was fun, but quite overwhelming (I was new to Minecraft as a whole, and I didn't know about plugins or the like) Then, someone griefed the main spawn and other areas of that world heavily, and the world was old, so it was retired. The next world was a standard world; everything was fine and good. Eventually, a chunk corrupted in what became known as "ghost" chunk- basically, a chunk was lost in the servers world, so another was automatically generated to fill in the space while the ghost chunk was floating around haunting the world file in an indeterminate location. This was causing immense lag, so the world was retired. After a brief Hiatus, Wildcraft was brought back with a custom map- it was well enjoyed and many people were playing. While the world looked nice aesthetically and you could essentially pinpoint where you wanted to travel to as a 3D map was available, it took all of the fun out of the exploration. This is when things begin to go downhill...

(2013-) The server really died at this point. In short, the server host died or lost all data, so the server was gone, the map was gone, everything was gone. After a period of maybe 8 months and many delays, the server came back, but the player count was lower than ever. The server had gone very survival-esque, and many players didn't like this change. Eventually, the server owner gave up and intended the server to die as it had lived a long life, and he could not see it lasting much longer. However, the one known as Nexlemav took the reins of the dying server, and he is currently reviving the server, and this is where the real review begins....

IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE HISTORY:

It's been a long road with many bumps, and even through a near-death experience, the Phoenix always rises from the ashes. (The Phoenix is Wildcraft) The reason I have always loved Wildcraft is not because of it being my first server... it's because of the great community and all the potential to have a great time. You don't have to worry about power-abusing people who have bought the staff rank; all of the staff in service right now and tried and true. Through experience and dedication they have gained their ranks. Players are friendly unless you act in an acidic manner towards them (although the staff will most likely deal with you should you do so) and you don't have to worry about being alone- many people are willing to help you out or even offer you a home. Don't worry about someone griefing you as well; there is an awesome anti-grief plugin where you can claim plots of land, and as such, it is one of my favourites. A few more good plugins on the server include things like McMmo so you can train and gain abilities and Infernal Mobs so you can test your skills verse randomly spawned "Mini-boss" creatures.

IN CLOSING OF THIS VERY LONG REVIEW....

If you haven't already played Wildcraft, you should give it a shot. It's very underrated now, falling from its old #3 spot on the most popular servers on PMC, and I think it deserves to be back among the higher ranks. So if you've read through all the way... give it a try! Maybe you'll see me online! (Danielhrz) Perhaps you might live in a town with another player, or perhaps you might pursue the life of a solitary vampire hunter with the help of the Vampire plugin, or maybe even a Vampire feeding on animals and shadowing the innocent? The choice is yours! See you online!
