The chagrin burns, flames arise
Now darkening once cheery skies
Why does it do this? Just watch, and
With shivering hearts, we wait.
Yes, I tell you it’s true
With shivering hearts we wait.
Not of any reasoning do I,
It’s just that I hesitate.
I hate the system, it kills potential
Stagnating the flow, with the old
It stymies those with talent
With those who were already there, bold.
I now wait, with a shivering heart
For what else, to become talented.
But it is a trick question, for what else?
With shivering hearts we wait.
Deft I wait, as I hesitate
Cry as I might, try as I might
I spin-out, burn-out, head-out
It is no use, with shivering hearts we wait.
So now I sit, with inhibition
A farcry into the hinterlands
Far from the bastion
With a shivering heart, I wait.
Wait as I might, try as I might
I cannot do a thing
My failure runs in a ring
And with a shivering heart, I wait.
Where do I run, where can I hide?
The demons are rising inside.
Ready to pounce, on my insecurity.
And with shivering hearts, you wait.
But I will rise, with determination
For in the distance, salvation.
Naught that can be done, but
With a shivering heart, wait.
I will not explain this poem. Either you get it, or you don't. But I guarantee you this - It means something.
