MGB here, and I have something to tell you. The PMC Blogging Scene is dying. Less and less members are taking the time to write good quality content, and the amount of spammers and EXP grabbers is steadily on the rise. But, I'm sure you're asking yourself, what can I do to help? (If you're not, why are you reading this is the first place?)

Well, here are 3 things you can do to help!

tChQSMGpng

Simple enough. More people posting quality content equals two things. More good things to read equals less people posting spam! More quality and less spam is exactly what the blogging section needs, as the quality content is quickly buried in the not-so-great posts. Now, you may be asking yourself what exaclty quality content is! The main thing you should pay attention to is the rules. The rules are very important (obviously). Beyond that, it depends on what you're writing about! If you're doing an interview, which seems to be quite popular these days, ask interesting, meaningful questions. Writing an article? Do research to be informed on the topics! Reviewing? There are two great articles by Jetra! Ranting? Go away please. <3 However, you may need to realize that you may not be a good writer. If you aren't a good writer, there's always the skin section! (Kidding, it's just as bad as the blog section <_<)
But seriously, if you're not the best writer, there's plenty of Bloggers around who I'm sure would love to help. Shoot me a PM and I can hook you up. :)

Before I even talk about reporting , I highly recommend you read an article by Charlizard about reporting correctly. Knowing how to report correctly is a very important part of reporting, after all.
Reporting is another way to help the blogging section. Reporting blogs that break the rules clears out the unwanted garbage that clogs up the blogging scene and helps to uncover the hidden gems. Think of yourself as a garbage man, who moonlights as a treasure hunter. Or something like that. You can also find out more about reporting in another blog I wrote, Grabbin' Flags.

I cannot stress this enough. Speaking from personal experience, being a blogger can be quiet discouraging. Working on a piece of writing, editing it, and going through the whole processes can take a lot of time and energy. All that work for maybe 5 diamonds, 50 views, and a comment or two can bring a guy (or girl) down. I'd encourage you to diamond, favorite, and comment on a blog you enjoy. Comments especially matter most to bloggers. They let us know what you did and didn't like about our writing, and it shows us what we can fix, and improve. Even if it's not constructive criticism, a simple "Hey, I loved this!" can go a long way. But please, don't misunderstand this. I am not in any way saying you should diamond willy nilly, in fact, I'm saying the opposite. We should have to earn your diamonds. Only diamond something you enjoy and even then, you don't have to. Just... think about doing it :P

Well, there you have it guys! 3 things you can do to help improve the quality of the blogging section. Posting quality content, reporting junk, and supporting good bloggers. Go forth, and save it's dying life!

Anyway, diamond if you liked it, fave if you loved it, and comment to tell me your exact thoughts!

Update #1 : 09/28/2014 5:45:31 pmSep 28th, 2014

Overhauled.

  • Fixed all the little "o"s everywhere
  • Added stuff to every section!
  • Fixed grammar, spelling, and nonsensical statements
  • Fixed the weird issues that I somehow missed in the original edit (as in, this was originally going to be a vlog. and was a script. that i eventually just changed to this. So there was some odd statements in there that would have only made sense in a video format. Edited though out. :P)
  • Fancy new MGB OUT (thanks Snowy <3)

  • Stared at the screen for a long time.
  • Cat attempted to help with the edit.
  • Removed cat's contribution, would have gotten blog removed for spam.

Very Informational! I really did appreciate this blog! Thanks for making this, I believe this should help out a lot of bloggers in our community!
Quality blogs? Too much effort man. Just right a really crappy blog about butter and watch the diamonds roll in.

Yes! Thank you... I've been writing a story in the blog section for quite some time. The few readers I have acquired have really liked it, but I have not gotten many because all of the poorly-written crap that clogs the blog section in PMC. If everyone put more then ten minutes and half a brain cell's worth of thought process into their blogs and stories, everyone would be happier! All bloggers would get more XP, as the blog section would actually be something worth looking at.

As time passes, more people of the noob variety come and destroy what little integrity the blogs section has left. As these noobs fill the ranks of blogging within PMC, Social structure of blogs breaks down, letting loose anarchy. As time passes, the people who blog for the best of reasons come together. As they create a plan, more time runs out. The mods, becoming restless, are begging to prepare for the removal of the blogs section! As our bloggers search the deepest depths of blogs, finding the spam, an eliminating it, things become brighter. The mods slowly back away, and our bloggers got back to what they wanted to do. Blog. So If you see a spammer who spams his blogs for XP, or just for Lulz, remember, make sure that you report, so we can keep the integrity, and the existence of blogs together.

"NU! Dis blag be suks! Go stahp blogging! Now if ull exuse meh, I go write a blog about butter is bad now!" - some noob.

Nice blog! I really agree, some great bloggers have left recently, and it's just being covered up. I see blogs on homepage that spam to meet the character limit, and it kills me. It makes me just want to kill somthing. Preferably a pillow, since I don't go to jail for that. But then I don't have a pillow to sleep on. Moral of the story:
Don't post bad blogs, or I have a sore neck.

Oh my goodness great blog ;-;

Your right, must be saved! The reason blogging gets less XP is because not many people view the blogs section cause its filled with spam and random posts...

Save us ;-;

I like this. I agree with this. But as you can see from some moderator comments below it looks as if there is a pretty serious lack of care, empathy, and responsibility on PMC's behalf.
I've reported a couple of blogs, they don't get taken down, I dont know why. You be the judge, I've reported the following:

www.planetminecraft.com/blog/friendships-good-times-bad-times/

www.planetminecraft.com/blog/derp-visionfbo-help-feed-the-backs-your-donation-could-save-backs-everywhere-why-feedback-is-important/

This was the text I used:

i PMC,

This blog does not meet the rules for submission.

This blog breaks the following rules:

The blog section is not a message board, a chat room or a Facebook/Twitter wall. A blog is a real piece of written content. Blog topics might include tutorials, reviews, articles, Minecraft related artwork, etc.

Do not Upload:
Content that is not related to Minecraft or Planet Minecraft. General discussion belongs on the forums.
Stuff that should be in the forums (and not blogs): Contests, requests, shops, questions, giveaways, subscriber celebrations, discussion, recruitment, etc

Tell me why those things deserve to be there, they are not PMC or MineCraft related.
I will try to explain you why they are still staying at there. Friendship is also part of minecraft and planetminecraft. Making blog about that how do your home look like or anything which is 100% from real life would count as rule breaking submission.

But isn't that just a bit tooSix Degrees of Kevin Bacon? That is like saying, since a candle is in MineCraft, I could totally write up a blog on making candles in real life...

You shouldn't just be allowed to generalize a concept to that degree.

I totally agree with you. We'll never have the blog section of 2011- early 2012 back. However, I think it's possible for it to BECOME better.
Also, I think part of the problem is that when the section started to go downhill, there was nobody left to care. Everybody took this attitude, or ignore it, and it got worse.
Just my... 3? cents.
I do respect your opinion though, sorry about last night.

Good post, diamonded. I'm starting to try blogging. I've only got one blog so far!
I don't think enough people realize what is going on and why these things happen, so its good for somebody to write about this to get the awareness of it out there. Great work, diamond and subscribed. ;D

Look! A good blog! It is always good to see a blogger that can write really well, although I suggest aiming for longer blogs. You deserve to be a bigger blogger and reach the reel often as your blogs are amazing and such. I would like to see much more from you in the near future.
