Minimap is working in 1.5, with all the new blocks. Color loader fixed up so I never need to make any changes when a new vanilla block is added anymore :) Will have to wait and see how Modloader/Forge handle 1.5 to see if I can do something similar for mod blocks
Instant updating when you place a block or torch, or the lighting changes (sun moving, gamma changed, fullbright mod etc) without a speed hit. I'm keeping track of which chunks change now and only re-rendering those, while overall lighting changes (sun, not torches) can be recalculated without having to calculate everything else.
Smooth moving. When zoomed in (zoom level 4) the map would only move one block at a time, even if each block was 8 pixels square. Now displays sub block movement for smooth moving at every zoom level.
With smooth movement, smooth tracking of mobs became not ugly. They position now updates in real time instead of once in a while.
TODO: allow for icons for custom mobs (someone will have to make them, then either bundle with their mod or let me bundle with the minimap)

I have a few things to ask/request
1) Do you think Modding API will have forge/modloader hooks
2) Do you think you could replicate Rei's Minimap style mobs, (Fading as they are deeper/different level of terrain)
Otherwise very cool
mobs do fade now. Mobs above you become more see through the higher they are, and mobs below get darker the farther down they are
