    I've finally revamped my old "VOAT - FISH" pack as A Lillie Bit of Fish!


    For this 1.21 update, I've included custom food values for all fish! This system takes into account the rarity of the fish, as well as its real-world weight, to determine the Hunger restored, Saturation restored, and Eating time for every single fish in the pack. Real-world fish size also plays a new role: stack size! For fish that are Huge in real life, they will only stack up to 8. Large fish stack up to 16. Medium fish stack up to 32. Small fish stack up to 64. Tiny fish stack up to 96! Additionally, multiple fish have been given status effects from eating.

    Overview:



    In this pack, I've added a much more comprehensive fishing system to Vanilla Minecraft. A Lillie Bit of Fish expands on the loot tables of Minecraft by taking into account weather, biome, and time of day to make it so that no matter where you fish, you're getting new fish.


    The A Lillie Bit of Fish datapack adds in 139 new fish to minecraft, obtainable through fishing. There are plans for, and mostly finished, updates to add in new fishing rods, a full progression system, fish quests, and even weather totems. All that is left is updating my old work-in-progress versions to 1.21.

    DROPS:



    FISH: There are 139 fish in this pack that can be used for various things. The majority of them are just low-level foods, however in these there are new sources for replacements for renewable glowstone, gold ingots, iron ingots, dyes, phantom membranes, even (very) rarely diamonds. I have extensively tested this on my server to make absolutely sure that it does not fundamentally change the in-game economy. This pack also includes some new fish in the end, including one called the Shulker Crab, which can be used as a replacement for a renewable source of shulker shells- predating mojang's official method!


    JUNK: 6 "driftwood" items, fishing hooks (used as iron nuggets), a new texture for bones when fished, a broken sword, and new soggy flesh which drops from Drowned as well.


    TREASURE: In addition to the treasure already present from fishing, any enchanted book you fish up will boast a new texture to show where you obtained it, and a special writable book called the Fisher's Journal.

    The datapack looks really cool and interesting! But the resourcepack doesn't work on 1.21.4. Could you please update it?

    Working on it, don't worry! I'm moving my stuff over to my own website, just gotta get it finished first, then I plan on releasing updated versions of all of my packs.

    HI, I have installed 1.0.3b on my server and have the resource pack in my folder, i am getting the fish with names, but the texture is still the vanilla textures. i have tried removing other resource packs, even with it being the only active pack the fish still look normal. The resource pack is still zipped in my folder, but that hasnt been a problem with other packs. I'd love to know how to fix this.

    I think i see the issue. The thread above by WormJelly commented that it currently doesnt work on 1.21.4 , i am on 1.21.4. Exited to see what the future brings :)

    What did VOAT stand for in your old pack? And will it work on 1.21.3? Or are you going to update it to 1.21.3?

    It stood for "Variations on a Theme"! It was my way of denoting that my packs were very intentionally just me choosing a theme and expanding on that specific item as Variations, i.e. VOAT-FRUIT was me just adding more Fruit to the game, all mechanically just "variations" to collect. I outgrew that when datapacks evolved more though, since now they can do a lot more than they used to. Fun fact, the original VOAT-FRUIT was the earliest datapack (that I've been able to find at least) to use biome-dependent loot tables for block drops! Back then there weren't really any tools for making datapacks at the scale we have now, so it was highly experimentation-based.

    I will be updating all my packs for the newest versions though, don't worry! I've just been dealing with a lot in real life, my mother unexpectedly died late August & now I've got a new kitten, but I fully intend on offering support to the new stuff in the game, and utilizing the new tech that we've got as well as I can. I'm also working on a website to host my stuff better, too!

    hey! the pack appears to be working as intended, but i can't tell what i'm supposed to do with any given fish besides eat it, and i don't see any notes on which fish can be used as which component or how to process them. i love the new variety and it gives me a reason to explore, but i need to know which ones are functional as other things besides food.



    Edit: my world has a chicken which we have suspended from a platform using a lead. we often use fishing poles on this chicken because it makes it swing back and forth in a funny way. would it be too esoteric to request chicken exclusive fishing loot, or hanging chicken exclusive loot? we do not plan to set this chicken on fire. thank you for your time and dedication.
