This data pack allows the player to repair or enchant items as many times as they like (although enchantments are still restricted by the maximum number of enchants the specific item can take), as the Repair Cost is always reset to 0, rather than accumulating until the item is too expensive to repair/enchant.

Note: you must leave the Anvil's GUI for this data pack to be able to detect the increased Repair Cost of your items so that it can remove said Repair Cost.

If you're looking for a way to remove Mending so you can rely fully on repairing tools with an anvil and this data pack, I recommend using my Unmending data pack alongside this one.

Bugs Fixed
  • Items in hotbar slot 7 with repair costs high enough that Anvil Mending will attempt to replace them are instead replaced by whatever item most recently had its repair cost removed.

I've noticed a weird bug when I enchant an item on an anvil (1.16.5). Whenever I add an enchantment to the item of my desire, the second I right click on the anvil to reset its repair cost, it disappears from my inventory. Would be glad if you could look into that one

You don't need to right click the anvil to reset repair cost; repair cost is tracked by the item. Are you using a modified client or server?

I'm using Paper/Bukkit software for my server, and I've only got a handful of datapacks on it, that's pretty much it. I've also noticed that the item that I've enchanted gets the pop-up animation in my inventory after I apply enchantments to it, and after that it basically disappears when even moving it to a different slot
(EDIT) I've got OpenInv and SkinsRestorer plugins on too

Sorry, but I can't support non-vanilla servers or clients, they behave too differently to the vanilla game.

Hey, it's no problem. I've found the issue - I took the datapack from a world of mine that is from an older version, and that seemed to corrupt all the datapacks in it. I just reinstalled the datapack and it works like a charm now, thank you anyway. Your datapack has helped a lot on my server, it's the only datapack of this sort too. Your other datapacks are quite remarkable as well, so keep up the good work

I'm glad you were able to solve the issue, the cause is certainly useful information to have. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!
