Hello I am Shertone, today I made a datapack for the data pack-jam with the theme "Ancient Technology"
To explain quickly, Minecraft already has some bioengineering like sculk and spawners.
My inspiration came from those, an ancient relick we know nothing about the spawners.
So I thought they could be remade by the player and used as a redstone component, I AM NOT PROPOSING REUSEABLE SPAWNER!
My idea is called Artificer's Cage a block spawner but with a totally different usage, when a creature of a set type is within 3 blocks of it detects it and counts the number of mobs like it in its radius.
How to start:
- Mine already existing spawner (Any tool)
- Pick up the item dropped from a broken spawner (Potent Fragment)
- Craft yourself an Artificer's Cage in a regular crafting table
(Put one Potent Fragment in the corners anything else fills up with copper ingots)
- Place your Artificer's Cage on top of another already existing spawner to infuse it with that entity type (Zombie spawner makes your Artificer's Cage a Zombie Artificer's Cage.. and so on)
- Now find a place to place your Artificer's Cage on
(beware if you break it your Artificer's Cage loses its Infusion and will turn back to normal Artificer's Cage)
- When an entity with the same ID as your infusion comes into a range of 3x3x3 blocks of the Artificer's Cage a target block directly below your Artificer's cage will be powered depending on the number of mobs with that ID in its radius
(3 zombies = 3 redstone power.. until the max of 15 redstone power)
- Any creature within the radius of 3x3x3 automatically powers any redstone lamp, target block, or redstone wire all 2 blocks bellow
(if a redstone dust occupies the same space as the entity it will be powered as well)

Fixed some bugs from the previous version
New textures were added to distinguish infused Artificer's cages.
