Blast-Blast-Furnaces
A data pack adding a multi-block structure which lets you get more gold, iron and copper from smelting. Versions 1.15 and 1.16 and for 1.17.
If you install the 1.17-Version but had the 1.16 Version installed you have to update your furnaces by dropping a fire charge into the hopper. When you do this you get a little "ding" sound to let you know it updated.
A lightweight data pack with a rather low amount of ticking functions, optimised to not impact the game's resources!
As seen in the gallery, there is a hopper in the multi-block structure which will receive additional ingots or nuggets from each smelted item. Supported items are:
- all iron armour pieces
- iron tools
- iron sword
- iron horse armour
- all chainmail armour pieces
- all gold armour pieces
- all gold tools
- gold sword
- golden horse armour
- gold ore (+deepslate variant)
- iron ore (+deepslate variant)
- nether gold ore
- copper ore (+deepslate variant)
- raw copper
- raw gold
- raw iron
There are two options for how many (and which) items you get from smelting:
- ore doubling, meaning two ingots per ore
- gold and iron nuggets about 50-60 % of an ingots worth per ore
For items that are not ores you get a random amount of nuggets of the respective material which are based on the amount of ingots you would use to craft them. Normal smelting gives you only one nugget. With this you get a whole lot more!
Per default, ore doubling is enabled. If you want to change that you need to execute a function from chat:
/function bbf:config
This gives a short chat gui in which the player can switch between the two. The player needs to have the permissions to execute commands through chat. (being opped or enabled cheats for the player or world)
Installation
- Download the datapack
- Put the downloaded file inside the datapacks folder of your world folder.
- /reload if the world was open or restart your server
- If the datapack is installed correctly, You should see this in the advancement tab:
Building the Structure:
The structure needs the following blocks:
- hopper (in the middle)
- furnace or blast furnace (only 1! adjacent to the hopper)
- bricks
- nether bricks
- red nether bricks
- stone bricks
- end stone bricks
- mossy stone bricks
- cracked stone bricks
- chiseled stone bricks
- cracked nether bricks
- chiseled nether bricks
- polished blackstone bricks
- cracked polished blackstone bricks
- deepslate bricks
- cracked deepslate bricks
- prismarine bricks
- quartz bricks
For the structure to be valid, the block positions around the central hopper have to be filled with these brick-blocks similar to what is shown in the gallery.
As you can see in the Pictures you need to place a hopper next to a furnace or blast furnace. In the hopper, place this "recipe" out of 4 iron blocks, 2 magma blocks and 1 diamond block inside it and then throw a fire charge from your Inventory into the hopper cavity. These are not lost! If you destroy the hopper you'll get these items back.
If you found any problems feel free to ask me in this discord server ☜(゚ヮ゚☜) or open an Issue on the project page.
The 1.15 and 1.16 Versions is available on the project page.

Update #3 : by Elemend 06/14/2021 2:16:28 pmJun 14th, 2021
Now Updated to the full release of 1.17.
This release will change the marker entity to a marker. It was an armor stand before.
If you install the 1.17-Version but had the 1.16 Version installed you have to update your furnaces by dropping a fire charge into the hopper. When you do this you get a little "ding" sound to let you know it updated them.
