If you've ever heard of the mod Draconic Evolution you know what the Chaos Dragon is. The final, impossible boss of the End, revered for its insane difficulty and power. This datapack twists that fight into a brand-new boss experience for Vanilla Minecraft. There's no creative flight armor here, so you'll have to be a little wittier than that to take this demon down! The Chaos Guardian, A new take on the Chaos Guardian from Draconic Evolution and Ender Dragon. Complete with its own special dimension and healing crystals. With the use of an elytra + fireworks you'll have to be quick to disable all the crystals within a certain time period for the dragon to be vulnerable.

Starting Out
To find the Chaos Dragon you must fly out 10,000 blocks in any direction in the End dimension (Ex. x10,000, y150, z0). At any one of these locations you will find a Chaos Portal. Simply break the cage surrounding it and enter the portal in the center to reach the Chaos Dimension.
Chaos Dislocator
In the chest on the Chaos Portal island you will find 1-2 Chaos Dislocators. These are blocks that can be placed down anywhere and act like Chaos Portals, making for easier travel to the Chaos Dimension without having to make the long 10,000 block trip every time.
In the Chaos Dimension
Once in the Chaos Dimension you will notice a new bar that appears above your hotbar. That is your pressure bar. It fills up when you stand still and empties when you move. The faster you move the faster it empties, elytra + fireworks is the fastest way to empty it. If it fills up you die. If it is completely empty you get a strength boost.
Fighting the Chaos Guardian - The Crystals
As with any dragon fight, before you can defeat the Guardian you have to eliminate their crystals. The crystals of the Chaos Guardian are unique, they are invulnerable to all attacks and can only be disabled by breaking the piece of crying obsidian at their base. Doing so causes the crystal to turn red and enter a "disabled" state. It will remain in this state for a specific amount of time depending on the number of players in the Chaos Dimension or if a player dies. Once all Crystals are disabled the dragon will change phases. A phase change is indicated by a loud roar, the Guardian and its bossbar changing color, and all the Crystals resetting. During each phase the refresh time of the Crystals gets consecutively shorter, so you have to be fast! After three phases all Crystals explode and the Guardian will be vulnerable.
Fighting the Chaos Guardian - The Dragon
The Chaos Guardian starts out as a standard dragon. It will fly around and occasionally shoot a fireball, though these fireball clouds will instakill you and are twice as big for twice as long. After disabling all the crystals the Guardian will change phases, of which there are 3, indicated by the color of the Guardian and their bossbar. Each Guardian Phase has slightly different behavior. Phase 1 is the default phase with the aforementioned instakill particle clouds. During Phase 2 the Guardian fires bolts that give you mining fatigue if they hit you, hindering your progress with the crystals. During Phase 3 the Guardian fires high velocity bullets that will likely kill you instantly if you don't dodge them or have a shield up. During Phase 4/vulnerable phase you are able to damage the Guardian. However, the Guardian has 1000 health and dies slowly. To make it more efficient, use the strength boost you get from an empty pressure bar to kill them in a few hits.
Dragon Armor
You've finally beaten the Chaos Guardian! Congrats! Now you can claim your reward, Legendary Dragon Armor! After the Guardian is dead, dig down towards the center of the island towards the glowing object. In the center of the pedestal is the Dragon Armor, simply right click to take it off. Once all the Dragon armor has been obtained you only have a few seconds to leave the Chaos Dimension before it collapses around you and forces you out. Afterwards, the Guardian can be refought for more Dragon Armor simply by entering through a Chaos Portal or Dislocator again.

If you have a problem with the portal make sure all custom dimensions are loaded! Log out and back in from the world and type /function chaos_dragon:refresh to fix it.
